zaxx 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Well last year Joel is coaching Colorado and we win in 4 games, few years back the same thing happened when he cached St. Louis. I think we have his number. Unless Scotty has shown him the tricks to beat us we may have history strongly on our side.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Chicago doesn't need a s***ty coach for us to beat them.
Decoy Jones 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 How funny would it be if we did sweep? Quenville would have to go coach in the East.

Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 He's got a pretty tenacious team this time, whereas last season, for example, he definitely didn't. Still, the Wings absolutely have his number. It's kind of sad, really.
zaxx 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 I bet Joel is sweating right now. Either that or he is right now preparing with an extra level of work as he is bound and determined to succeed. I cannot wait!

mpitts 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) Since 1997, the Detroit Red Wings have defeated a Joel Quennville coached team en route to a Stanley Cup championship: 1996-97 - Detroit defeats St. Louis 4-2 (Goals 13-12 Wings) 1997-98 - Detroit defeats St. Louis 4-2 (Goals 23-13 Wings) 2001-02 - Detroit defeats St. Louis 4-1 (Goals 14-11 Wings) 2007-08 - Detroit defeats Colorado 4-0 (Goals 21-8 Wings) His overall record in the playoffs against the Red Wings is 5-16, 2-8 at home and 3-8 on the road. Also, Joel Quennville has never coached a team past the conference finals. Edited May 15, 2009 by mpitts
Supertack 2 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 An arguement can also be made that it's tough for one team to continue to maintain that kinda dominance over an opposing coach/goaltender/player, ect. ect. Khabibulin was 6-16-2 life time vs Vancouver, & that seemed to flip this year. At some point things even themselfs out.
Broken 16 381 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) A little concerned with Bowman in the mix with the Hawks. Agreed... Sorta. If anyone could crack us, it's Bowman. Quennville is still the coach. He would have to completely buy in to Bowmans coaching philosophy (well, at least certain aspects of it). Not sure his ego would allow it. Hard to say exactly how much of an impact the Bowman Factor will be. Hopefully none. I will say that it is kinda fishy that Bowman jumps over and BOOM, they are in the Conference Finals. They have legit talent and depth, a little Bowman influence could really speed up their development. At the very least, I would say that Chicago will turn some heads this series.
