Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 The good news? Crosby and Malkin are pretty much the only ones to score on a Canes defense that doesn't even exist. That is what I like to call optimism.
Mike 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 This series is a joke. Neither team can play defense and the Canes offense doesn't exist.
Broken 16 381 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) And what I'm saying is that they wouldn't necessarily have to. The Wings have done a fair job of ASSISTING their opponents in shredding them. And what I'm saying is 3 minor penalties, 1 double minor and a 5 minute major, yet the Wings only yielded one goal against against a very fast and skilled power play. I'll take that all day long. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 Done. Season over for the 'Canes. Yeah, if I were a 'Canes I'd definitely have Malkin's head stuck up in front of my dartboard.

Hmmmmm..... I'm counting Malkin, Crosby, Guerin, Fedotenko and Adams, (I think), with goals. Eight different Pluguins with points in today's game. Funny..... The Canes were in a "must win" game, at home....scored the first goal..... And the Pluguins SHUT THEM DOWN, and then proceeded to DISMANTLE them. Quickly, and efficiently. While the Wings allowed a Team full of ROOKIES to drop three on them before they decided to show up on the road. Funny, "Strange", that is. 'Cause it CERTAINLY isn't funny "haha". Again..... I hope they were watching..

Don't even try to act like the Penguins have depth.
Outsider 42 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 One an empty net, the other a weak backhand in a game that was all but over. So I see one player scoring a goal that is not named Malkin or Crosby. Don't even try to act like the Penguins have depth. In Game 2? I'm looking at Crosby, Kunitz, Malkin and Talbot, with the EN being scored by Tyler freakin' Kennedy. In Game 1, it was Malkin, Boucher and Satan. In Game 7 against the Caps, it was Crosby, Adams, Guerin, Letang and Staal. In Game 6 against the Caps? Guerin, Letang, Eaton, and Crosby. Who do you think you're kidding? Whistling past the graveyard or plugging your ears and shouting "lalalalalalalala" isn't going to change facts. And the facts are THUS: Not only have the Pluguins gotten MONSTROUS contributions from their BEST Players, they've gotten contributions from everyone ELSE, too. The Wings have been getting by WITHOUT their TOP THREE offensive Players having contributed much, and all of their scoring coming from secondary and tertiary sources. It's not a pretty situation, but it IS accurate. That has to change. HAS TO.
Cern 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 Hmmmmm..... I'm counting Malkin, Crosby, Guerin, Fedotenko and Adams, (I think), with goals. Eight different Pluguins with points in today's game. Crosby or Malkin played a part in four of Pittsburgh's goals tonight. One of the goals that they weren't involved with was the empty-netter. Those two players are the alpha and omega of Pittsburgh's 'depth', no ifs ands or buts. Also consider that Fleury coughs up more rebounds than a basketball backboard, something that the Wings are going to punish teams for much more than the Hurricanes. I wouldn't expect or count on the Wings' defense completely shutting down crosby and malkin, but if they can be contained at least partially the Penguins' offensive 'depth' will noticeably suffer. I can easily see the Wings winning out a battle of attrition between the two.

That was why the Penguins lost last year, and that is why they will have a problem with offense this year if both teams meet. EMALKIN 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 Man...clearly you're not paying attention to these games being played. Why are you worried about our offense???? THE PENS ARE GETTING THE JOB DONE. Show me the rules where it says you cannot post opinions. Can you do that? No, you cannot. And why would anyone pay attention to the ECF? No one wants to watch two teams with no defense play each other. That's why the ECF have been relegated to Versus. Edited May 24, 2009 by Mike

EMALKIN 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 Do you see what i mean though? Instead of talking hockey....backing up detroit with facts...bashing Pens with facts...you try and take a show at me for a spelling error? Are you kidding me? EMALKIN 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 Your opinions mean absolutely nothing. Why is our D weak? I wanna see some statistics/facts on why you think that. You're comments have no proof to them. It's annoying how dumb you guys are. I'm not being classless. just trying to explain to you guys you have absolutely no idea what you are even talking about. You're a disgrace to real Wings fans. Satan's goal was the only one not involving Crosby and/or Malkin In Game 7 against the Caps, it was Crosby, Adams, Guerin, Letang and Staal. 4 of 6 involving one or the other In Game 6 against the Caps? Guerin, Letang, Eaton, and Crosby. a whopping 0 goals not involving either of them. The Penguins have no genuine depth, it's the result of two players and two players alone. If one or the other went cold they wouldn't even BE in the ECF - what the hell else are Satan or Guerin going to do without someone to feed them pucks? The fact that we're winning series with Datsyuk and Hossa cold (although Hossa had a multipoint game last night) I think actually bodes rather well for the Wings. Pound for pound Detroit has more offensive threats than the Penguins. Gonchar is keeping Datsyuk smothered? Great, that leaves guys like Hal 'Pylon' Gill to prevent Zetterberg, Franzen, Samuelsson, Filpulla, Hudler, Lidstrom, and Rafalski from getting scoring chances. There's simply too many potential scoring threats on the Wings' roster for the Penguins to keep adequately plugged up at once.

You guys just prove day in and day out that you aren't even true fans and most likely dont know anything about hockey... It's pathetic. There is a reply button for a reason, use it. So far you have done nothing but bash the opinions of posters. You haven't provided any facts to defend the Pens and I have seen plenty of numbers that show offensive production for the Pens declines dramatically after you get past Sidney and Malkin. FACT. I pointed out your spelling errors because you made several of them and then had the audacity to call people idiots and morons. Do yourself a favor and follow your own advise or leave. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 24, 2009 Last year Pens fans came here telling us all how the Wings hadn't seen anybody with the Pens offensive prowess before. Now they're coming back here to cry wolf again. These idiots will never learn their lesson. They have nothing that the Wings haven't dealt with before.
