If you would only lose the avatar. :)

For a change, there was some encouraging news from the Detroit Red Wings' infirmary on Thursday.

Nicklas Lidstrom, the leading scorer among NHL defencemen in this year's playoffs, will return to the lineup for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final against Pittsburgh on Saturday at Detroit (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 7:30 p.m. ET).

The Red Wings captain missed a series-clinching 2-1 win over Chicago on Wednesday night with a lower-body injury.

General manager Ken Holland said Thursday he is encouraged by Lidstrom's progress.

Lidstrom has four goals and 13 points in 14 games in these playoffs, matching his point total from the 2008 post-season.

Holland said he wouldn't know the playing status of NHL MVP finalist Pavel Datsyuk (foot) and blue-liner Jonathan Ericsson (acute appendicitis) until Saturday.

Veteran Detroit forward Kris Draper (lower-body injury) is doubtful for Game 1, but Holland expects him to play later in the series.

Oh thank the lord. I feel 100x better. I hate game-day decisions. With the Wings lately that simply means, they (datsyuk/ericsson) are not playing. But with Lidstrom back, that is huge news.

Edit: grammar

Datsyuk and Ericsson back for Game 1/2 and Drapes for Game 3 would be huge. This is great news, have fun now Sid!

Ericsson will be back for Game 1, his surgery is as about as easily recovered from as a mole removal.

Holland did say Big Rig had some 'tenderness' but it's probably just a soft spot for romance movies, nothing to be afraid of.

Didn't Babcock say that both Lids and Datsyuk will be in, hopefully Erricson, but most likely not Draper for game one?

He said he thought they would be ready for game 5. He then continued by saying he thinks they will be available for game "the weekend". Whether that means Game 1, Game 2, or both, who knows. Now Lids is back, it would be huge to see Erricson and Dats back for game 1.

Once again "crossed-arms-guy" as you have been named, dishing out the one-liners.

Nice.

Guest Four

I bet you, Ericsson and Datsyuk come back Sunday to bring more energy to the tired team on a back-to-back.
