Firehawk 305 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 It's only gonna be the most exciting ever if the refs interfere too much with the series...i.e. try to extend it a long time (sorta like what they did to us last year to make it go 6).
Theophany 110 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) LOL at them posting .878 as Ozzie's expected Sv%. The guy is clutch in the playoffs. 2.11 GAA total in all the playoff games he's been in? It's amusing to think that Ozzie has played more than FOUR TIMES the number of playoff minutes that MAF has. (6245 mins for Ozzie vs 1537 for MAF, just to keep the record straight. Numbers taken from Wikipedia, not including the current season.) Edited May 29, 2009 by Theophany

Granted he had a terrible regular season, but Playoff time is Ozzy time!
zetterbergfan 23 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 Last night, "NHL on the Fly" said that MAF proved that he is the best goalie in the playoffs this year. Mostly due to his .928 SP against Carolina. WTF?
Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Two guys played 7 games on NHL 2009 and wrote an article about it with a bunch of b.s. mixed in. Stupid.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 How would this be anywhere close to the most exciting series ever?
tommingthepuck96 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 Hahaha i love how the NHL has a poll 3 top forwards from each team to most likely lead the team in series points and after crosby and malkin they have guerin hahaha... Also equally funny to me that franzen with his team leading 19 points isnt even mentioned... Sidney Crosby (PIT)Pavel Datsyuk (DET)Bill Guerin (PIT)Marian Hossa (DET)Evgeni Malkin (PIT)Henrik Zetterberg (DET)

Actually, I found a link to some better stats. Ozzie's overall playoff stats: 7234 mins played 254 GA 2999 SA 2.11 GAA .915 Sv% His lowest ever Sv% in the playoffs is .890, and that was with the Blues. His average Sv% in the last 2 playoff seasons is .9275. Definitely a weak playoff goalie.

Hmm, interesting. Let's take a look at the overall goaltending leaders in the 2008-09 Stanley Cup Playoffs: So...uh...where's Fleury? Tied with Ozzie for wins (obviously), but what about all those other stats? Save %: 3. Osgood .925 8. Fleury .906 (only Khabibulin was worse among the top 9 with .898) GAA: 2. Osgood 2.06 7. Fleury 2.62 (only Ward and Khabibulin were worse among the top 9 with 2.67 and 2.93, respectively) Shutouts: 4. Osgood 1 10. Fleury 0 Wins: 1. Osgood 12 1. Fleury 12 Draw your own conclusions as to who's "the best".
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 That simulation predicts Hossa wins MVP. No way that happens. Unless maybe he scores 8 goals each game of the finals or something.

The way he's played the last few games, who knows? If he's getting into a hot streak he couldn't have picked a better time for it.

Snazzy 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 I doubt this will be the most exciting of the series. I don't think anything can match Wings/Ducks series. That was nothing less than spectacular.
MidMichSteve 1,115 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 Just like when everyone thought that last year? If you're talking about Hossa in the finals last year, I recall that he was the one that made me cringe most whenever he was about to shoot.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 When I read: NHL predicts most exciting series ever I was already to reply: If that's the case, then why does the League want it over so quickly? And that's a statement I still believe. Then I saw that it is about whatifsports dot com, which is actually a pretty good site; you can create matchups of great teams from different eras in all of the four major sports. I doubt that the League commissioned these guys to do this; they just it on their own. Maybe the owners are next door neighbours to Inspector Gadget.
