Gnredwing 10 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Going back to Detroit is going to be huge for us. The Wings will not lose 3 in a row, especially at home. We need to actually be able to play a game without allowing a power play goal, which seems more and more unlikely. Give Pittsburgh credit, they played better then us tonight and deserved to win both these games. Detroit needs to come out strong and play a total 60 minutes. We need to be better with the puck and not give up so many pucks that lead to turnovers! GO WINGS, GO!!
drfnr14 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 yes pits def played better then us. we were horriable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but we do go home for game 5!!!!!! come on wings wake up and play some real hockey!!!!!!!!!!!
GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 The Pens played better for about 7 minutes. Detroit needs to stop turning the puck over. They do that and its a 3-1 series lead after tonight
Snazzy 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Bummer that Detroit didn't feel like playing hockey tonight. But being tied 2-2 isn't that big of deal really. Just means more hockey.

sherwood40 16 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 The only positive I see out of this is hard to belive we will lose 3 in a row. Thats it, now it depends on the people wearing the winged wheel. They have to show the earn their spot on that roster, datsyuk will be back for game 5, I can't see him sitting when this is gonna be a HUGE game.
WiNgSowN 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 I suspect we will be ready to play game 5. Hopefully Dats will be back (and shut down Malkin) and hopefully we can get some calls being at home. I still like our chances. Wings in 6!!
RedLightGoesOn 81 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Detroit played like dogs***. Defensive collapse and a stiffled offense. We need Datsyuk back in the lineup. No more Mr. Game 4 Marrian Hossa this time. This series is far from over. But the Wings HAVE to win Game 5. I dont know why we cant solve the Pens defense. Pens try to collapse but I mean there are some golden opportunities missed by us. This is a best of 3 right now. WE NEED DATSYUK BACK. Should I repeat this more? He can give the Wings a nice boost emotionally but defensively. He can play strong hockey. Babs needs to do something to get this team going again, we got outplayed and couldnt come back when the Pens werent playing good. Our PK needs to be better. Our offense has score. No more defensive fubars. I know we are tired and out of gas and probably a flu is running around our locker room. But I mean this isnt anthing new for people. This better be a wakeup call for the rest of the team or else this series is going to be putting a lot of fans in cardiac arrest.
rodjor23 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Let's look at the positives of this series. We haven't lost at home and honestly the referees have not been on the Wings side in the entire series. Hossa has played so-so and will get better, Datsyuk should be back, with Datsyuk back Zetterberg shouldn't have to play as much (hopefully he can be little more offensive), and the final thing the WINGS are headed back to DETROIT! Cleary will play better, Franzen will get it going, and we have a day to rest up.
BowHuntingFool 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 We had a a BAD 2nd period, very bad half of a 2nd period. The Pens should win home games just like we should and will. I'm not worried, we will not be beat 3 games in a row.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Reminded me of Game 6 against Anaheim. The only difference is Anaheim had better D, and less O. The one positive about Game 5? Last change. The Wings have COMPLETELY changed their game plan against the Pens at home. That will change at home.

Detroit needs to stop turning the puck over. They do that and its a 3-1 series lead after tonight They had TWO chances to get that 3rd win; a 2-2 tie late in the 3rd in game 3, and a 2-1 lead before an absolute meltdown in the 2nd tonight. It reminded me of Brodeur against Carolina... catastrophic.
pazzloski 7 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Best of 3 with 2 at home with a rested datsyuk. i like those odds.

It reminded me of Brodeur against Carolina... catastrophic. Late in the 3rd? Half way through the 3rd. The empty netter was late in the 3rd. The only thing visibly evident is the team is gassed, isn't skating, isn't getting passes on the sticks or handling passes, and is having some pretty funky defensive lapses evident of a tired team. I really hope the team can turn it around for Game 5.

Snazzy 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 After a loss I hate all the negative, so lets talk about the positives. The series is 2-2. That is not a negative at all. We had a grueling schedule the benefited the Pens. We have some major injuries. But as the series goes on, our boys get healthier (namely, Datsyuk) I know it does suck that Wings allowed Pens to win a couple games and not take the series... but that's hockey. Remember we went fell down against an amazing Anaheim team 2-1? And we fought our way back after playing like crap in a few games in that series to beat them in 7. Anyhow, I have a VERY positive feeling about tonight's loss. It's a wake up call for our boys, they need to start taking the series serioulsy! They just can't continue to play lazy and expect to win. They need to play more responsible and play like the champs that they are. This loss is a series changer... but a series changer for us! We will use it to our advantage just like we did when we were down against the Ducks! Home ice advantage is HUGE for us. We win game 5 at home and steal game 6 at the igloo.... However, if we somehow fail to steal a game in their arena, we still have home ice! Go Wings! The cup is ours!!!!
10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 The Pens played better for about 7 minutes. Detroit needs to stop turning the puck over. They do that and its a 3-1 series lead after tonight Sadly, turning the puck over like were the NY Islanders is part of the games. We've had WAY more turnovers in every game this series then they have.
catbox_9 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 I've got 3 positive thoughts: 1. They can't win the Cup unless they win in Detroit. 2. We've only lost in Detroit once all playoffs and it took 3 overtimes. 3. I don't have any rope so I won't be hanging myself.

Yak19 303 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Yep i agree 100%, the Pens had the advantage in the 3 games in 4 nights but yet it is tied and we have home ice advantage. The DRW are built for these situations. KNOW THIS! GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vincanni 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Positive: At least after a loss we don't see a spammed flood of thread entitled "FU REFFZZZ!!!" despite being the league's little darlings. ...And yes, its always a good thing when we see some action from Nightmare on Helm Street! Another key point is Penguins didn't outplay us at all... we outplayed ourselves. a couple bone head plays and we lost the game. We won't make those mistakes again! Home ice advantage baby!!!! Trapt1307 81 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 At the beginning of the series, I figured it would be 2-2 after four games. That's a positive, I guess. The Wings have home ice advantage in a best of three series, the odds are in their favor.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Datsyuk will come back in game 5 and the Wings WILL win in 6 in Pittsburghs barn. Thats positive.

We won't make those mistakes again! Home ice advantage baby!!!! I actually highlighted this somewhere in the GDT. While Pittsburgh where deadly accurate with the chances we gave them off of terrible puck possession, Wings still gave them all the rushes they ended up scoring on. So the root of the problems lies within our team and therefore is something the Wings can make a significantly better adjustment for next game and not have to worry about the Crosby's.
