Getting beat by Max freaking Talbot?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Hahahahaha... LOL

The guy kept giving interviews after interviews in the french medias in Québec saying that the Pens would win the Cup and that he would make Hossa regret his decision of joining the Wings in the off season.

I can't believe that a talented team like the Wings got beat by that Talbot bum! ROFL

What's the need of paying big money to invisible players such as Hossa? Let's bring a few low salary blue collar cheap shot artists like Talbot if that's what the league wants!

The guy gave Datsyuk a cheap shot in game 5 and not one single Wings player made him pay for that. What a bunch of wimps! Holland needs to add some toughness on that Wings rosters and QUICK!...a couple of mean canadian players who can throw some Sherwood at other teams star players, since the NHL tolerates this kind of actions.

The mighty Red Wings getting beat on home ice in game 7 of the SCF by freaking Maxime Talbot...

Hahahahahaha... WHAT A JOKE!

And don't think that the Wings will bounce back next season! We are going to lose quality players during the summer and it will be early playoffs elimination for the next few years (2003-2007 all over again...)

Too bad!

Wings had their chances but they weren't hungry enough.

They lost a HUGE opportunitie of winning a 5th Cup in 12 years and establishing themselves as one of the greatest dynastys ever...

It was the ultimate insult to have Talbot score 2 goals. He just has a face that you'd love to punch.

I agree that the Wings need to get over this whole we don't fight back and we'll get them on the powerplay mentality. When the Pens were losing they showed some genuine emotion (Malkin's fight being a prime example). The Wings had this during the Bowman cup years.

Amen brother, I am with you 100%. We NEED a better mix of Canadians in with these Euro's to have the right balance... thats been my thought for a long time now.

Ducks = 15 Canadians

Hawks = 15 Canadians

Pens = 16 Canadians

Wings = 8 Canadians

I'm in Montreal too and its making me sick to hear the media bragging about Talbot, a Quebeccer, winning the Cup for the Pens. No word about how much the Canadiens suck, the french media here is retarded.

They are one of the greatest Dynasty's ever. Until someone else steps up and wins 3 out of 6 and 4 out of 11, then noone else compares.

Thats ok that we got beat by Talbot, Scuderi, Kennedy, because come contract time, with the league max contracts they've already given Malkin, Crysby and Fleury, in the end the Pees will get beat by the likes of Talbot. Scuderi is already gone this July anyway, with his stellar play this playoff (he should've gotten MVP) teams will be lining up to pay this guy! Too bad Detroit won't have room for him....

Besides, what would be wrong with 5 Cups in 13 years? that is still an average of a Cup every 2.6 years. I'll take this loss for that kind of consistency every time! When is the last time your team won? Just which is your team? Montreal? LOL! Chicago? even a bigger LOL!

Exactly! I was hoping that at least one Wings player would have punched him! But in vain... And the freaking medias in Québec all in love with the guy... Sooooo painful!

Since most of this has already been heard before, I will comment about one part of that OP.

Wings are already one of the greatest dynasties. I can't imagine any other franchise in the last 20 years better representing a dynasty than this one. If someone has a better franchise, by all means offer it up. Certainly ain't the Penguins, Avalanche, Devils, Stars, or Ducks.

Some of you people are pathetic.

Sapir: Let me guess, you thought Detroit was done when the good Canadien boys Shanny and Yzerman left the team and let a Euro captain the Wings, right?

How have the wings fared since then? In a big bad world full of salary cap issues and mean Canadians?

Secret: We don't NEED more Canadians. That is preference of who you like. You like Canadians on the team, and I'm fine with that. But we don't need more of a balance to win the cup. How many did Detroit have last year?

My team is the Red Wings! HUGE FAN! I get insults from Hab fans all winter long at the local outdoor rink.

I am so pissed off though...

It would have been less painful if we would have lost because of Crosby or Malkin. But Maxime "freaking" Talbot distributing cheap shots at Datsyuk on our home rink and playing like Gordie Howe all of a sudden in game 7???

This would never have happened in the McCarty and Probert days, NEVER!!!

This must be a bad dream or something...

Sapir is making the classic "WE R NEED TUFFNESS" argument. Usually from people who don't understand that this team is as tough as necessary and toughness has nothing to do with why this team lost Game 7.

Secret has always complained about Canadians on this team, or lack thereof. Just a rant to ignore. This team didn't lost Game 7 because a lack of Canadians.

Hence, been there, done that.

I'm already starting to hear it from Sharks fans.. get used to it when you live in another team's area.

Don't get me wrong here, I love Lidstrom, I wear his jersey proudly. I also like the Swedish players on the team. But the lack of physical play in that Pittsburgh series was obvious! Even in the Ducks series we were getting bumped all around the ice by guys like Beauchemin - the Ray Bourque of the poors - and Pronger (not to mention Datsyuk who had to fight against Niedermayer).

Unacceptable!

You have to be kidding me.

The Ducks had great defensemen, a great defensive system, incredibly solid goaltending, and a dominant first line. That is what took the game to seven, not their physical play.

Pittsburgh's physical play also was not what took Detroit down.

We didn't lose because because we didn't have enough Canadians, we lost because of inconsistent play and lack of desire. Canadians play a different style then Europeans and thats a fact. I think the Canadian style is more rugged and having a better balance of that could go a long way in the rigors of playoff hockey, thats my opinion. I did not say Euro's suck lets get rid of them all or anything like that. I'm Canadian and proud of our players and naturally would love to see more on our team.

Did you watch any of the series? Their physical play is part of their system and it gave us all we could handle and you better believe it took a toll on us. When I am talking about physical play I am not only referring to open ice checks but winning the little scraps on the boards, in the corners and in front of the net. The constant little chips, shot, and shoves wear a player and a team down too. We've received this type of battering the whole play off run and dished it out way less.

Yeah I did, and their system kept bodies outside and kept Detroit from getting scoring chances.

It was the fact it lasted seven games that hurt Detroit, not the physicality. Every game was tough, because Detroit had to do almost everything to get a good scoring chance, let alone score on Hiller.

Anyone have a final tally of who had more hits in this series? Being that Detroit is not a physical team and evidently lack of physical play is the excuse as to why the Wings lost to the Penguins now (funny this is brought up again), I'm sure the Wings were outhit by a HUGE margin.

I believe the Wings had more hits. At least I'm pretty sure.

Sorry, I edited my previous post to mention that hits are not the only notable physical play. The Board & corner battles, the fighting for position in front of the net, and just the mean spirited chips, shots and shoves that we do not engage in. Hudler was knocked around like a pansy, so was Sammy. Too many players not digging in to win the battles that make a team a winner. If the fancy play is working run with it, if its not we needed to play in the ugly spots and win in the tough physical spots... didn't happen and it took the ultimate toll.

We did out hit the Ducks, but that series did take alot out of us. Whether it was physicality, the long drawn out games, or the fact that for an 8th seed they just didnt go away. I believe if we had played anyone else in the 2nd round, we'd be champs right now. But that means nothing now.
