YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 I wouldn't mind Sillinger at league minimum, and Neil is definitely worth a look. ...but Kotalik and Afinogenov? If thats what you want, just keep Samuelsson and Hudler. Sammys more complete than Kotalik, Hudler more so than Max, and both of our guys can produce on the 3rd line. Theres no telling how Max or Kotalik would do in the West.

Afinogenov is inconsistent and Sillinger is old and always injured. Why would anyone want him based on that?
egroen 384 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) I would so take Sillinger. That would be sweet to have him finish his career in Detroit -- what a long strange trip it's been! Edited June 21, 2009 by egroen

Why would anyone want him based on that? As was Drake when the Wings signed him for the minimum. How quick are we to forget that Drake was so unwanted, he was bought out. While Kotalik is more physical, hes not as complete. He sucks defensively, hes offensively overrated, and hes inconsistent. Hes essentially Samuelsson whos going to cost more simply because he has 1 good season under his belt.
LIDDYGIBBY5 1 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 We are up against the cap in a real bad way. There isn't room to bring back all of the players on the roster even if Hossa walks. What makes anyone think that with a salary cap that is reported to be very similar to last year, that we can afford to take on even "manageable" salary? What this team is going to need is league minimum guys, not multi-million $ salaries.
egroen 384 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 I have a feeling Sillinger would play in Detroit for a similar salary as Kopecky. Though I am sure it will not happen - I just think it would be neat You gotta love Sillinger!
AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 I would say no to all of them, for various reasons.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) If we don't go the Hossa route - the only other way I might be satisfied is if we take a look at Travis Moen and Sami Pahlsson. Helm, Moen, and Pahlsson would be a hell of a third checking line. But yeah, my first choice is to hang on to Hossa and keep Helm and Leino in the lineup. EDIT. Pahlsson and Moen are UFAs btw. Casey 145 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Maxim Afinogenov - 1.75 million - top six forward Chris Neil - 1.5 million - enforcer/toughness Mike Sillinger(former red wing draft pick and never has won a cup is 37 years old) - .750million - win one for him like dallas drake Ales Kotalik - 2 million - top six forward equal about 6 million make a few trade like lilja, hudler and trade hossa rights for some draft picks so would you rather have depth or hossa? I'd rather the depth. Look at the Finals- Hossa did nothing, our depth was what took it to game 7, third period.
