ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 I watched him play for the Czech national team and he sucked. He is big, but very soft. Hudler's small and very soft, so where does that leave us? I'd like to have Kotalik if we don't have Hudler, but there's no reason for him to sign here for less than what he's worth.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 I'd be happy to see what Kotalik could do in Detroit.

wingslionstigers 12 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Dude...just shut the f*** up.... First, your reading waaay to much into what I wrote. Second, I was merely stating that I'm over Hudler. Third, to answer your question, well I can't. Mostly because it's set up to make me look wrong but also because the circumstances are different. Would I rather work for a company with a better pay raise? Sure. If that original company brought me into the field but couldn't bring me any success? Sure, I'd leave. But what if the company can't give me a pay raise now because of hard economic times? What if all my best friends are there, I'm at one of the most successful companies in the world, they taught me everything I know, and I know eventually my loyalty will be rewarded? I'm not so sure. Circumstances are different, if I was an NHL caliber player I would rather play for the team that drafted me, had faith in me, developed my game, won a cup with, almost won another, and now wants me to play a top six role. It's not like the guy has to sign under value for 15 years. I don't know, I'm different that way. To me, if I'm living comfortably and I'm happy to go to work everyday, I don't care that an "unbiased" person thinks I should get more. I don't need more. GET IT? Well said brotha Hudler is much better playmaker and offensive player. Playmaker probably. Fact is we need a goal scorer. We got enough top 6 playmakers. Louisville 112 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Lazy player, if he cant play for Ruff or Mactavish, he wont be able to play for Babcock. Hasn't he played for only those two coaches in his career though?
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) Well said brotha Playmaker probably. Fact is we need a goal scorer. We got enough top 6 playmakers. Only Dats and maybe Zetterberg can be considered good playmakers. Edited July 8, 2009 by Reds4Life
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Only Dats and maybe Zetterberg can be considered good playmakers. Flip is a great skater and passer. He certainly demonstrated that he was capable of being a setup man this last post-season when paired with Hossa and Mule.
wingslionstigers 12 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Only Dats and maybe Zetterberg can be considered good playmakers. Flip, Dats, Z, plus our entire defense can pass the puck good.
Louisville 112 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Flip, Dats, Z, plus our entire defense can pass the puck good. Right on, point being we need someone that can shoot. Kotalik seems to fit that mold, everybody seems high on Tanguay but his downside is that he doesn't shoot enough. I think he actually had less goals than Kotalik last season and paid at a much higher price.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Hasn't he played for only those two coaches in his career though? And was called out for being lazy and not trying very hard. He's a player that can get by on pure talent, but I dont want that kind of player on the Wings.
ElCapitan 14 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 You are talking about a man deciding his financial future and you claim it to be childish games? So I take you are going to work the rest of your life for the same company even if they cannot pay you even a 3% raise each year, even if an independent, unbiased third person says you deserve 2x maybe 3x your salary? Childish games, I am always amused how easy it is to live with some one else taking a pay cut! Hudler should play with the Wings for 1.5 to 2 max when 2 is probably the starting point for other offers. KHL is known for throwing ridiculous money at players just to get them there, lets say this is 4 years front loaded totaling something like 15 mil. You find signing that offer as a childish game and he should take the 1.5 Detroit is offering him. Oh how easy it is to spend and live off of other people's salary?! Thanks for posting this. Zion 93 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Lazy player, if he cant play for Ruff or Mactavish, he wont be able to play for Babcock. This. I live in the buffalo area and watch the sabres games regularly and have always enjoyed watching kotalik. He is big in the shootouts and has an absolute cannon of a shot. I would love to see how he would play with the wings. Dude, are you serious?
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Despite the negative comments, I think this has been the most positive response to a player on these boards. We can never agree on anything but it seems everyone likes Kotalik a lot, despite the two posters who don't. I haven't seen him play enough myself, I just want Holland to make the right move. Zion 93 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Which is why you should trust us, those of us who've seen enough of him to know why people in Buffalo are grateful he's gone and why Edmonton, a team that can't keep ANYBODY, wants no piece of his "cannon" of a right-handed shot. Zion 93 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Oh, and he plays like he's 5'9, 169 lbs. Remind you of anyone?
P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Kotalik's great in NHL 2004. He can score around up to 100 points if given a top line spot (and simulating the whole season), but his overall rating is still just around 78 so you can get him very cheap.
