But doesnt Toronto have 7 d-men including White? I'd keep him. He really impressed me in all facets of the game last season, showed some toughness, and his ability to play D or forward should make him a keeper imo. Finger should be the man to go before White.

Komisarek --> Untouchable

Schenn --> Untouchable

Beauchemin --> Untouchable

Exelby --> Likely to be kept

Van Ryn --> Probably not enough trade value to bother moving, but very solid when healthy

White --> A lot better than the 7th defenceman he would be if he stayed

Finger --> Don't see how he fits, perhaps to the Marlies

Frogren --> Ideal 7th defenceman

I wouldn't want White at all. The best thing he would bring to this team is his mustache, he's small and I wouldn't say showed toughness at all. He fought Markus Naslund and Ilya Kovalchuk last year for God's sake. I would rather see Exelby, guy's a hammer.

See, but thats the kind of toughness I'd actually like. Barret Jackman routinely challenges Datsyuk and Zetterberg to fight all the time, but could you imagine White grabbing ahold of Oshie and putting a licking on him? Bobby Ryan? Patrick Kane?

Nah, it is pretty much for the moustache and his offensive prowess. (And he was one of my favorite St John's Maple Leafs back when I used to be a huge fan ) I'd love Exelby, but that wont happen. Dude is a Burke player.

Whether Stralman was used to set the bar for a late 2nd rounder to then trade White or not, i just think they could have gotten a better return than they did. Which would have set the bar even higher to support your argument.

It's too bad the Leafs have such a back log of defensemen and Finger will almost certainly be in the AHL. Really it'd be awesome if the Leafs were able to deal both Finger and Van Ryn even though I kinda like MVR.

Personally I would want to see the Leafs run with:

Kaberla

Komisarek

Beauchemin

Schenn

Exelby

White

Frogren

with some kind of return for Finger and MVR, even if it's only picks. Stockpile those picks baby

I don't think you can get just picks for those two. They make too much money. There's no way they can move Finger's contract without taking back a similarly bad contract.
