National writer: Don't bury Red Wings yet

It's about time someone thought that. I can't believe it. Wings lose game 7 in the finals coming off the previous year's victory and then it's "RIP Red Wings greatness." Something tells me this team is hungrier now. Just like they were very hungry coming off the heartbreaking 2007 loss.

Good excerpt. It certainly lends more hope that Eaves will resurrect his career when one considers the other players beside Cleary to turn around their careers here. Osgood is another good example that I often overlook, and Stuart was another high pick that bounced around and if the Wings hadn't signed him, he'd probably still be bouncing around looking for a team, or maybe he'd just be in LA wondering if the team can finally make that next step.

Even if the Wings do finish fourth, I pity the fifth seed because unless the team has significant injuries I don't see the early-round flops that were too common early in the decade.

I'm with you. The Wings want vengence for the debacle that was the finals - a ridiculous amount of injuries to only the Wings and not the Pens, a schedule that was just plain stupid, waiver of what was supposed to be an automatic suspension to the Pens best player, the bad puck-luck and the complete change to the way the game was officiated from the 2008 playoffs.

The Wings want the Cup back that should have been theirs...
