You know the old school fans that liked the Wings even before 1997? Now, time to avoid these forums for another few months, the naive rapport amongst some of the fans here amazes me. No offense I love how all the 'tough' Wings fans are so precious and loving when it comes to fighters. So precious. At all cost you will ignore facts to make yourselves feel better. And writing incredibly humorous stuff like "more true wings fans in phoenix" as far as I can tell the only "untrue" wings fans are the ones who will sit and complain about anything the wings do. He was a terrible hockey player and although I would like to see some toughness added to our roster it has to come in the form of players that can contribute in more ways then just being a goon. Ppl used to laugh at him before he got here, especially after his fight with Nortaon and that one time when he got absolutely annihilated by someone Umberger style while he was in Montreal. Good, Downey got a contract, cograts for him, but I'll feel sorry for him when he goes to make a check on someone and gets rocked again, like I said I would love to still have him in GR but he just can't hack it on an elite nhl team. If he wasn't cut for the NHL, he wouldn't be playing in it. The fact that several teams in recent years (including the Wings) have signed him shows that they believe he can do something to add to their team.
