Krayzie_Bone 58 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Im trying to remember the 05/06 lineup. That was the first hockey season I had fsn detroit and I watched every game. Im trying to make that team on nhl 09 but I will have to create a few people like Fischer and the Captain. Iv been searching online and havent found it yet. They have the players and stats here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005%E2%80%93...ed_Wings_season but I would like to know if anyone remember sort of what the lines were. I know they end up changing here and there but anyone thoughts would be appreciated. For some reason I love that season even thought the playoff loss sucked bit time. I remember the Wings trailing Nashville for a while and the passed them around March I think and never looked back.
Rice 42 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Shanahan-Datsyuk-Draper Samuelsson-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Williams-Lang-Yzerman Maltby-Franzen-Cleary Mowers Lidstrom-Lilja Schneider-Chelios Lebda-Woolley Cross Legace Osgood With a healthy defense, it would've probably been this: Lidstrom-Kronwall Schneider-Fischer Lilja-Chelios Lebda/Rivers/Woolley Yes, you're reading right, Draper did play some first line right wing that year. I believe he rotated with Cleary and Franzen occasionally. What a paper tiger that team was... but if the defense were healthy they would've been better in the playoffs. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 That first line was awful in the playoffs. WTF was Babcock thinking putting Draper on that line? They had no chemistry nor should they have with that mix of players. Pavel and Shanny never mixed in well together. Hank was a beast in that series, however, as was Yzerman. I also remember thinking how useless Franzen and Cleary were. Glad they turned into something better for us by the time the 2007 playoffs rolled around. Franzen was good in those playoffs though I remember he chipped a couple points in as a 4th liner and that is when he actually used to hit guys, I remember he had a big hit open ice but I think that was vs. Calgary the next year
skacore 2 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 this team was ridiculous though.... probably the softest team in NHL history
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 With the worst goaltender in playoff history. The number of critical, back breaking soft goals he surrendered was unforgivable, and I'll never forget that that was how we were forced to send off Steve.
