mtuhockey7 23 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 We are heading down to the Joe later this season to catch a game and have sat in a few different locations at the Joe but we are curious, what are your opinions for where the best/worst seats in the house are? Do you have a favorite section, etc, how close is too close if we're in the lower bowl (which is probably gonna happen). Any input you guys can give would be AWESOME. Thanks! stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 Best - Section 109-112 : Rows 8-12 Worst - Any corner, upper deck past row 5 - Section 225 stands out in my mind...
hokeychik22 17 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 i wanna say i dont personally dont think there is a bad seat at the joe.. i like though standing room the best..
Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 120-123 are the sections closest to the benches. 123 being my preference, to the immediate left of the Wings bench. I personally like being right on the glass, but 10-15 rows up probably affords a better view of the action.
rcallan 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 I've been to the Joe once, a playoff game against Dallas in '08, got the cheapest tickets available, didnt really care where I sat, just wanted to be there. But the seats were bad, I think it was the only section in the entire arena that were this bad, it says "limited viewing" on ticket master and are upper bowl, the rows in the section go straight back (no incline) and you have about a foot of headroom. So when it says "limited viewing", they mean it. Didn't matter to me though, i was just happy to be there.
Kira 451 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 We always sit in the top of section 106 (wheelchair accessible)...the two ushers who work that section are sweethearts. We're just to the right of the penalty box and across the arena from the benches. I always get some good shots from there, and Herb and Shelley are great people to work with. CenterIce 83 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 The only bad seats are the ones that you get a little obstruction from the video boards and some of the top rows, where they level off.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) for me personally Best seats ever had (on the Glass behind wings bench... for the Dec 6th game last year): Worst seats ever had: Up in the corners where the back 3 rows flatten out Edited September 25, 2009 by OsGOD
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 Personally I like sitting toward the middle. First few rows in the upper bowl or the last few rows of the lower bowl. If you get too close then you can't really see the play when it goes into the boards.
kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 for me the best seats are in section 109 - between the top of the circle and the blue line, opposite the benches, at the end where wings shoot twice, about 10 rows off the ice so you can see over the glass. I Red Wings I 40 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 I personally like sections 111-118, as close as possible of course. I refuse to buy tickets that are on Detroit's end twice, superstition I guess.
FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 Best seats are undoubtedly the Legends Club. I've had seats in basically every section in the house, including suites, the party deck, front row, etc....but the Legends club is by far the best. You get a bunch of free food, free non alcoholic drinks, and game infromation statistics that are so in depth that you would wonder who possibly could be writing them. There are bathrooms a few feet from your seats, and you can make it to the bathroom and back if there's an icing call. There is a bar about 10 feet away and you can get your drinks almost instantaneously and they have good beers on tap... There is also a ton of memorabilia and cool stuff. Also, everytime I've been in the Legends Club someone cool stops by. I've met Dino, Probert, Stevie, Gordie, Kenny H, Mickey Redmond, Teddy, Ken Daniels, and a whole bunch of other people. If you can get tickets for the Legends Club....do it!
Lamothe 5 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) First through eighth row on the second level I've always enjoyed, either directly above the benches or the penalty boxes. Worst seat is if you end up sitting next to a guy that takes up his seat and most of yours, which has happened to me once before. Aside from that, I've never had a bad experience anywhere in the Joe. Casey 145 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 Worst - Any corner, upper deck past row 5 - Section 225 stands out in my mind... Got to disagree on this. Some of the most awesome games I've watched have been in the very top row, right under the pressbox. Totally unobstructed, get the feel of the whole place. oldredbarnman 13 Report post Posted September 27, 2009 My seats are in 227B. They're not bad, I just hate the black netting, (and the top bar is a nuisance in the upper bowl at either end around row 5. ) Wish they would change the netting to white or clear. Any seats between the bluelines are good, no net to interfere. I think the worst seats are in the corners(lower bowl), where you have to turn your body to see the action at the other end. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted September 27, 2009 Until the NHL installed safety nets there wasn't a bad seat in the Joe in my opinion. So now I'd say anywhere is fine except behind the safety nets. Last year I sat near one of the blue lines in the last row, and the view was still phenomenal. I posted a photo on my blog, so you can see it there.
