Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Don't know if everyone here watches Coaches Corner or even has CBC for Hockey Night in Canada, but anyone who does knows Cherry is a Leafs fan...unfortunately. But here's a fun little comment he made about their current team, and who their best player is. "Cherry unwittingly added some pressure on the Leafs' first draft pick during his between-periods commentary Saturday night by showing a dazzling goal Kadri scored against the Plymouth Whalers the previous night, prefacing it by saying he was going to show one of Toronto's best players. Then, he went on to say Kadri should be playing for the Leafs right now." This was taken from the article on TSN. I found it funny http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=294751 there's the link if anyone wants to read the whole thing. Things are pretty shaky in "Leaf Nation"
Rice 42 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 I thought Toronto would be decent this season. Guess I was wrong. Komisarek and Beauchemin were supposed to significantly upgrade that defense, but I've always thought both are overrated. Of course they're going to look good playing alongside Markov and Niedermayer/Pronger. Plus, they paid close to a franchise price for Kessel who isn't a franchise player. Burke is overrated. Always has been.
Carman 387 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 It's going to be funny seeing the Bruins be a top 3 team this year with a lottery pick. Thanks Burke! At least I'm not a fan of a Eastern Conference team. I feel bad for those Leaf fans...

Always has been. beauchemin has been running around all over the place making up for everyone else's mistakes. he was a good addition, but the overall team play defensively is atrocious. komisarek is a ******* goon that does nothing but cheapshot and hit from behind...that's why burke likes him. which brings me to brian burke...well he can be summed up with 2 words. ****** bag. Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 The Leafs will eventually come around and be a better team this season, but I still stay they miss the playoffs. They are playing worse then they really are right now, IMO. But dont get me worng, I love seeing them lose.
jollymania 162 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 You knew right as they signed Komisarek it would be a joke
jollymania 162 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 True - Komisarek isn't known for his gentlemanly play - however I'd take him right now on the Wings roster (I'd honestly give the Leafs Stuart for Komi)...There's a reason why there was alot of interest in this guy this past summer; he's a solid defensive guy who can block alot of shots, and make anyone in an opposing jersey pay a price for getting anywhere near his goalie. That said both he, and Beauchemin look like crap right now since they're trying too hard, and trying to do more than what they should; both need to get back to their basic game of safe stay at home D, and dump the puck along the boards. As for Burke - well he tells it like it is, and won't BS ya...I like him for that, and I also happen to agree alot with his philosophy for how to build a team. Komisarek is was and always will be a horrible player, he scored on his own net last night and takes at least 3 useless penalties a game, and nobody is afraid of him the dude even runs form players like ott or dubinsky. He blocks shots, that is about it.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 About Kadri... They should have gave him a few regular season games before they moved him down. I understand Ron Wilson's idea of wanting him to develop as a star and not play in the NHL with any mediocrity, but he could have still played, what is it, 10 regular season games to see if he could really produce on the bigger stage. It makes all worlds happy.
Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted October 14, 2009 it's only five games for the wings, but it's a whole season for the leafs?
Carman 387 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Wing's are 2-2-1, Leafs are 0-5-1. Leafs also sacrificed their future on a one dimensional sniper.

mjlegend 155 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Wing's are 2-2-1, Leafs are 0-5-1. Leafs also sacrificed their future on a one dimensional sniper. A brittle one dimensional sniper, no less. The Leafs have surrendered a league-high 28 goals in six games. I don't think anyone is really paying that high of a price to score against them.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 I have been telling people that Komi and Beauchemin were going to be huge letdowns. They're the 4th and 5th most talented defensemen playing regular shifts for the Leafs right now. Based on all the hype about them the past couple of seasons they should be #1 and #2, even with Kaberle around.

Winged_Wheeler 3 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 I'm not laughing at other teams when I'm too concerned about my own team, who got their asses worked in a 6-2 loss. We typically only have 4-5 losses by New Years...
