Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 (edited) Filppula was named Hardest Working Player for September IMHO only by default.... because everyone else pretty much had some very bad days. Award for Filppula Filppula leads the team with the WORST plus/minus at -6. He had only 6 points for the month and he was Center on the second line. I'm sorry, but that is not good enough for me..... especially at his pay scale. Wings seem to be doing fine without him and their defense has definitely improved. I think it basically is an attempt by the coaching staff to instill some confidence in him. At any rate, being out for 6 weeks isn't going to help him and he may be slow in returning to form. I think Draper and Maltby had a very good month and have resurrected their play with some very hard work in the month. skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 Well its pretty hard to argue against him being the hardest working out there. He has looked extremely good this season so far and while it hasnt paid off in his points, it has shown in his play. Eventually though the puck will work its way in and Filppula will get some points when he comes back, especially if he works as hard as he has been.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 Considering we didn't play any regular season games in September, I wouldn't say anyone on the team is overly deserving of that award. Val must have worked really hard. Congratulations, Flip!

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 I think he worked pretty hard out there every shift, actually. It's hardest worker not "most effective point getter for your payscale".

(Right before the injury, btw) "I think Fil's been our best player so far," defenseman Niklas Kronwall said. "He's bringing it every night, playing really hard shift after shift, playing a lot of minutes. A guy like that is going to be even more important now with Mule (Johan Franzen) down. We're very lucky to have him." (Oct 24th)
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 I don't think he'll win it for October or November. In all seriousness, I hope he gets back sooner than later, Wings will need him!
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 Nothing keeping him from skating... Figures, he gets this award and then takes a vacation for 6-8 weeks... Slacker.
