Really a shame that this is the only regular season game between these two Original Six teams.

Yes it is and thanks again for all your superb efforts on setting up each game on the board. I'm sure glad SOMEbody knows how to do this and do it as well as you do. :beerbuddy:

I'm relatively sure it'll be Gustavsson in there tonight. He's the only one they trust.

Leafs lines:

Blake - Mitchell - Kessel

Ponikarovsky - Grabovski - Kulemin

Hagman - Stajan - Stempniak

Wallin - Primeau - Orr

Kaberle - Komisarek

Beauchemin - Finger

Schenn - White

Gustavsson

Toskala

Out of curiosity.... I take it you want the leafs to win tonight, but is detroit your 2nd favourite team? you been hanging here a long time :)

Will be a great game, wonder what don cherry will say in the intermission :P

Nah, Phoenix is my 2nd favourite team, but that's only because my cousin is a scout for them.

I just like the hockey talk around here, and there's probably no other team I respect as much as the Wings.

Wings/Leafs. Doesn't get any better than that. Plus it's Hall Of Fame weekend. Yzerman, Hull, Robitaille. The inductees will be introduced before the game, ceremonial puck drop, and I'm sure interviewed as well. I'll be recording the game on both FSD and CBC. Should be a fun night.

Wings 4

Leafs 2

For those of you who get CBC - maybe after the game - could you fill in those of us who don't get it on how it went and what they said - especially with the inductees? THANKS.

They usually don't make speeches or say anything when they're brought out on to the ice. Generally what they do is bring out a bunch of HOF'ers from days gone by, then the four or five inductees and then they do the ceremonial faceoff.

Thanks for the explanation. THEREFORE...if any of you super-techies can put something on YouTube, that would be :photo::w00t2::punk: :colorbounce: !!

Sorry, but for a guy living in Canada, this just sounds so wrong to me.

Its nice to finally see a Leaf fan like this. The area I live in is half and half of Wings and Leafs fans and I gotta say the majority of the Leafs fans are pretty idiotic. All they do is talk trash about the Wings and say the most ridiculous things. They are the only reason I hate the leafs, never had much of a problem with the players but now Burke is in charge that should change soon.

Hopefully the Wings for once put in a decent effort tonight against a team lower in the standings. I'm actually lowering my expectations for this one because that opening night loss last year was pretty embarrassing.

The Leafs have been vastly improved since Gustavsson returned from injury. He's the straw stirrin' the drink.

They're 2-0-4 since he came back....and they were 0-7-1 before that.

I hate the Leafs, living in Canada you can't help but hear about how their doing all the time! I think the Wings are due for a high scoring affair since we haven't had one since that crazy Edmonton game.

Wings 5 (Bertuzzi 2, Leino, Cleary, Lidstrom)

Leafs 3 (Kaberle, Stajan, Poni)

Yeah I've been catching a few of the games the past couple weeks they have been looking better. Its kinda strange how the offense is pretty weak but yet the powerplay has been decent, at least from what I've seen. It basically won them the game against the Ducks. What do you think about Beauchemin and Komisarek so far? I think they've been pretty unimpressive.

Kaberle has been unreal on the PP. He has a ton of confidence right now.

Beauchemin is still trying to do too much. He needs to take a step back and simplify.

Komisarek was downright awful for the first 7 or 8 games. He's been getting better every game since then. He had his best game as a Leaf last night.

For all this talk of 'the Monster' last night, he put his team in an early two-goal hole and barely allowed them to win it - against the only other team as bad as the Leafs are. Oz and Howard have done the same thing of course, but Gustavsson is rapidly becoming almost as overrated as Luongo is and he's only played what, seven games?

TO has coughed up the first goal in games something like 13 of the last 14 games. If Oz and the defense just keep doing their thing from the last several games the Leafs will suffer for it. Also keep in mind that this is HHOF night and the headline inductee was a career Red Wing - the team should be absolutely pumped for this game.

He also stood on his head and kept them tied/ahead in the 2nd and 3rd period. He had a slow start (the 2nd goal was his fault - the 1st one he didn't really have a chance on).

He's a bit of a flopper like Hasek in that he throws body parts at pucks that weren't meant to stop pucks, but it works. Before somebody explodes on me, I'm not saying he's anywhere near as good as Hasek, but the style is similar at times.

Your right, I saw the highlights of that game on NHL on the Fly and the only reason the leafs won that game was because of the Monster. He stood on his head in the second and third periods. With the amount of point blank chances that the canes had that game could have easily been a blowout in their favour.
