samuelsson vs. the wings

how funny is it that sammy is currently outscoring every player on the wings? lol. granted, he has 4 games in hand, but it's still a sad state of affairs.

i think, as a team, a goal of gunning for the playoffs should be revised to making sure that we have at least one player on this team that outscores samuelsson.

Good for him that he's having a 'career year'.

The thing that concerns me is I didn't know that being snake bit was contagious but it seems like nearly the whole team's came down with it barring a few exceptions.

Hopefully they light somebody up and get it out of their systems asap- that'd be great to destroy the BJ's tonight.

it'd sure be nice. it's hard to believe the wings top scorer is currently 69th in the league. i know it's early, but when's the last time we've seen that?

Now dont get me wrong by my post, i was never a HUGE sammy fan by any means, but in retrospect it kind of sucks that we lost him. And here is why: I think there were two main reasons sammy left. 1) Money, vancouver could give him more than we could. and 2) Playing time. Im not possitive but isnt Sammy playing on the 1st or second line over in Vancouver? Hes scoring alot because hes getting the extra playing time and isnt playing on the 3rd or 4th lines like he was here.

NOW, the reason that it sucks that he left for these 2 simple reasons is this. Looking at our roster now, with all the injuries and such, Sammy would now be playing on our 1st or 2nd line. And had we, or had he known that would have been a possibility, he may have taken the lesser amount of money that the wings offered him.

OBVIOUSLY, the injuries are something that could have never been predicited and noone would have expected the Wings to move 3rd and 4th line guys up to the 1st and 2nd lines, but man if we could have kept him for 1 more season he could be having the type of season that hes having this year except in Detroit.

I think it hurts us even more now that we lost the player that we brought in to replace Sammy at the point on the PP (Williams) and now have somewhat of a void at that spot.

With all that said, Sammy did what was best for him and hes bennefiting for that, and noone can fault him for it. Im glad to see him having such great success this year. This just goes to show how talented the wings teams usually are. A guy that played on the Wings 3rd line can go to another GOOD team and be a 1st liner and lead teams in scoring haha. Anyways, it sucks hes not here, but we have to move on and make due with what we got i guess.

If Sammy were here right now, he'd probably be on IR too..........

I don't have numbers to back me up, but I seem to remember that a lot of times during the 90's/'00 glory years, Detroit didn't have guys in the top of the league in scoring because the team was balanced. No one dominated the score sheet or ice time because there were 3 or 4 really good lines, plus the team played a lot of defense.

But again, that's just going by memory so I could be quite wrong.

I'm happy for Sammy. It was nice to see how he become a good player in a good system and finally got his paycheck. Remember, 4 years ago nobody wanted him and now he plays on the first line.
