skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 so i missed the game. how was miller? He was pretty good. Had a solid chance to score but didn't get it to the back of the net. Solid on the puck. He seems to be a great fit with Abdelkader and May right now.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 Missed the game, but Danny and Z were fantastic from what I saw, Ericsson sucked and didnt beat up Perry, and Bert being -2 in a game where we score 7 isnt very good.
WpgMikos 17 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) Ericsson's problem seems to be he has no idea how to use his size to his advantage. The crowd wasn't happy when he avoided the fight (although it was on the far end so it was hard to see what happened). We can thank him for that pass to Getzlaf which got the Ducks back in the game and made the 3rd so entertaining. Forgot to include this video of the crowd doing the wave during the 3rd: name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">&"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" /> Two key plays of the 3rd: 1) Lidstrom keeping the puck in the Ducks zone on the 5th goal (I think) to help put the Wings up 5-4. 2) Selanne's backhander goes off the top crossbar, Helm turns around and makes it 6-4. skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 Missed the game, but Danny Leino and Z were fantastic from what I saw, Ericsson sucked and didnt get to beat up Perry because of his helmet malfunction, and Bert being -2 in a game where we score 7 isnt very good. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) Missed the game, but Danny and Z were fantastic from what I saw, Ericsson sucked and didnt beat up Perry, and Bert being -2 in a game where we score 7 isnt very good. Watched the whole game on TV. Ericsson was fine, got an assist and was a +1. He made a bone-head play where he made a high-risk pass up the ice that Getzlaf stepped in front of and passed to Perry for a momentum killing goal. Definitely something he knew he shouldn't have done-- the look on his face made it clear Babs wouldn't have to chew him out much. Aside from that he stepped into a dance with Perry but had his helmet flip down around his face with the chinstrap holding it around his neck awkwardly. He tried to unclip it with one hand (and Perry was definitely not dirty because he didn't throw a punch and allowed Ericsson to try to remove it) but the steam blew off and the refs stepped between them before he could unclip the strap. After that bone-head play with the pass to Getzlaf, Ericsson recovered very well. I can deal with him making a few bonehead plays each game given that he's a rookie. As long as he recovers from them like he did tonight we're fine. Hopefully the plays won't lead directly to goals, but hey-- that's what happens when you're learning the game at this level. Bert made some s***ty choices when deciding whether to shoot or hold onto the puck even though Dats handed him golden opportunities multiple times. He had a fairly rough game. I saw the Perry fight thing, that was more of Perry being a *****, good to hear Ericsson only made one bad mistake, and not so good to hear Bertuzzi struggling again. Yeah, I just don't get him right now. He's still got great hands but he's not really the bull around the net he was in his prime (something we already knew). The big issue I don't get is why he doesn't just throw tons of shots on the net more often. He seems to favour trying to go around the defense instead of shooting through them. Does he have shot issues to do a wrist, elbow or shoulder injury of some sort? I'm not really knowledgeable enough about shooting mechanics to pick up on that sort of thing. Doggy 130 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 Who'd a thunk we'd get three wins in four nights with Jimmy in net? The additional good news is this break should give Osgood sufficient time to be ready for the next game. Man things have really improved around here since mindfly left.
