Would the wings trade Willaims or Bertuzzi

We brought them on for the year, signed them just for this year... won't happen.

The team is more likely to go down in flames this year than that.

The organization does not exchange players mid-season on a whim. It doesn't fit with their (very successful) philosophy on such matters, and I can see why they'd judge such conduct as deleterious to the team's well-being.

That said, the potential of teams asking for Bertuzzi and/or Williams in a 'lucrative trade' is virtually zero, as they are neither notably-good players nor role-players of any sort and are both on one-year contracts.

If the price is right, yes. But why the Bert hate? He's playing adequately. Not everyone is Pavelrik Zetterzyuk. He makes 1.5 mil. I'd like to see where we'd find a better player for that much. I think alot of people want to rag on Bert and wait for their chances to do it. When he makes a good play, they ignore it. When he makes a bad play, they proclaim him garbage and say he's been nothing but horrible. It's a little unwarranted. But that's how it goes with crowds-one says something, others follow along.

Bert's been adequate. If we expected him to be more than that, we would've paid him more than 1.5 million.

When you're expecting and waiting for someone to screw up, it'll seem far worse than it really is when they do.

Bert's been horrid...Tonight I remember one specific play where he did nothing to protect his puck holder leading to a fight (for the puck) in our own corner. The commentators (ken & Mick) were even talking about how bad he's been tonight.

I remember 2 weeks ago him as being in the right places and just not getting the shots and making bad passes... now he's not doing any of them.

What he said.

Now I'm saying say we SHOULD trade them or anything, but if a relatively lucrative trade involving them was possible, would Kenny trade them being that we just signed them? Just wondering what people's thoughts are.

Why would it even be suggested then if there's no chance of them being traded?

we got shanny at the beginning of the season.

For Shanahan, the organization traded a high-drafted forward who had proven he couldn't get anything done, plus one of the best defensemen in the history of the game. Both had years remaining on their contracts. Even then, it was a special case, and even then, Holland was not in charge.

Also, you ought to go back and remember that we are not at the beginning of the season.

Not likely a half decent offer from another team. Who would want Bert's lazy arse?

Wonder why Calgary didn't resign him. One of the worst decision by Holland.

As for who else at 1.5 mill could we have gotten? Hindsight is 20/20 but how about Prospal (Rangers) or even the other guy on that Canucks line Morrison (Washington).

I would bet money that the Wings will be making a splash before the trade deadline for an impact player, but Bert and Williams are here to stay. Like people have mentioned: nobody wants them and they're on one year contracts. Maybe Williams could be packaged with a better player in exchange for a single player on another team that just needs a bit more scoring, but unlikely.

Calgary is one of the teams most guilty of employing bums who don't do anything on other teams. Half their roster wouldn't hang on bad KHL teams. Calgary could use him for the miniscule amount he was paid by them. They were stupid to not bring him back. But Darryl Sutter's shown he's a better coach than GM anyway.

Rather trade Holmstrom. Can get more for him + don't have to deal with his liabilities.

Yes, trade one of our best specialists. That's a GREAT idea, especially when he's playing better hockey than he has in years.

Yeah let's trade Holmstrom, a great role player and excellent specialist. Just because you're judging some weaknesses way too harshly.
