rage 24 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Gives us two excellent scoring lines, a hell of a checking line, a 4th line mixing vets with a couple kids with high potential, a defense corps that can play physical and clear the crease while still moving the puck well and chipping in offensively, a future HoF goalie, and goalie of the future... Who can we bring in? By the look of it we have 15 players with contracts ending, 6 being RFA's (Abby,Eaves, Helm, Larsson, Meech and Miller) the remaining 9 UFA's are Bertuzzi, Williams, Maltby, Holmstrom, Janik, Lebda, Lilja, May and of course Lidstrom. Assume we will sign 4 out the 6 RFA's for around 4.5 Mill (Helm, Abby, Eaves, Larsson). Now looking at the list of UFA's I would really only like Lids and maybe Lilja (depending). If they signed for a total of 7mill this would mean that we would have only 29 players signed at 59.375Mill...? I must be doing something wrong, so if someone could shed some light on this it would be awesome! http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?team=DET (all numbers and facts from here) Just addressing effectiveness and the teams needs, I don't expect these players to return, barring some collossal resurgence later this season: Bertuzzi, Williams, Maltby (Retired), Lebda, May (retires?), Meech. Abdelkader, Helm, Larsson, Lidstrom are locks. Homer will probably return because for all the crap people have given him he's still playing his style of hockey and scoring goals (team leader). He'l be back unless he feels physically incapable of it. Eaves could be back as well, he hasn't been hurting the team and could be a good player to resign and see how he develops with more time. Miller is another 50/50. Could be good filler, unless he has a monster playoff run and then he would be a lock to return. So that frees up 6 roster spots to be replaced with impact players.
