luvmnger 125 Report post Posted November 27, 2009 i personally think it could be a good move....both can handle the puck...but both are not jellin' with their teams. i am sick of seeing leino get pushed around...and when he has a shot, miss the net religiously. any thoughts? Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted November 27, 2009 I don't think it's the Detroit way to trade player playing their first NHL season after growing in the AHL. Leino has a two-year deal for a reason.
cmonster 11 Report post Posted November 27, 2009 I think both will be busts. Leino IMO is a tweener. Not enough talent to play on the top 2 lines, but too much to play 3rd/4th lines. At least on Detroit anyway. On Detroit it seems as if there is a large gap in talent levels between 1st/2nd lines and the 3rd/4th lines. And if you fall in between, you'll get lost in the shuffle. Neither have lived up to the hype so far. So I see no need to swap one problem for another.
brett 1,029 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 hes a rookie..he gets pushed around alot but still manages to hold on to the puck fairly well IMO leino will improve and be just as good as brunstrom
mmamolo 287 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 I remember seeing a similar issue with Datsyuk when he first came into the league. Obviously Datsyuk produced far better than Leino is right now in his rookie year but I remember looking at him and just hoping he could get a bit stronger. Now it's nearly impossible to knock Datsyuk off the puck. If Leino keeps working hard and puts on some man strength he'll end up being a big part of this franchise. I still think he has the talent and skill but now we're going to find out if he has the drive to do it. I wouldnt bother making this trade. It's better to deal with the beast you know. Leino took a s*** ton less money last year to play in the AHL when the KHL was offering way more. He wants to be here. He wants to succeed. With time things will come together.
