lookalive07 251 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 As mentioned above the Wings loss is not because of that disallowed goal!! According to the ending score, no. However, if that would have counted, it could have been a different game, due to the fact that it would have tied up the game at 1. Who knows, in some alternate universe, we could have made something of it. That said, however, the call was legitimate. Bias obviously has me calling bulls***, but once you realize the rule, it's the right call. Soft, maybe, but correct.

Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Heres my beef with this! In the New Jersey/Boston game the Boston goalie had his pad pushed into the net while the puck was under his pad and the goal counted for New Jersey! Now, Dan Cleary is called for Interference on a play in which the puck is already in the net when Cleary is in the crease and there is no goal! So I guess if Dan O would have pushed Kipper into the net then everything would have been ok, but the fact he was a screen in front of the net, that is no good! The inconsistency of the league right now is killing the game! For the people that think the Wings would have lost this game anyway, you need to watch sports more often! A 1-1 game is played differently that an 1-0 game! I'm not saying that would have won the game, but it would have been much different! As a fan I am frustrated and I can only imagine what the players are feeling! 1 call in another game is not the same in another game! I just don't understand this league anymore! Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 As mentioned above the Wings loss is not because of that disallowed goal!! Any disallowed goal will tend to bring the morale of the team down, it can't be helped. If that goal had been allowed, it would have been a completely different game from then on. That goal could have been a spark to ignite the whole team on fire. Of course, I'm saying "could have", I know it's all a guessing game.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Terrible call. I'd argue that most teams score goals just about every night with an inch of their skate blade in the blue paint.
hockey&beer 16 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Pretty weak call as far as I am concerned. But on the same note what was the non call when Kipper whacked Homer with the same zebra standing directly behind the net, looking at the play since the puck was btwn Homer's skates? Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 As mentioned above the Wings loss is not because of that disallowed goal!! I respectfully disagree. That goal could have been the spark needed to light this team up. They need any sense of confidence they can get right now; they are at an all-time low in confidence. They need something like that goal to build off. I believe that goal would have been a game changer.... this team needs that confidence.
DylanMckay 1 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) As mentioned above the Wings loss is not because of that disallowed goal!! I disagree both May's and Cleary's goal's being disallowed changed the momentum of their respective games. If the Wings would have tied the game at 1 last night they would of had a much better chance at winning. Instead Calgary scored again which allowed the Flames to trap and forced the Wings to take more chances to even the game up. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) As mentioned above the Wings loss is not because of that disallowed goal!! Certainly not, but it played a huge factor in determining the outcome of the game. Three times already this season the referees played a bigger part in deciding the outcome of the game than necessary, and we're only 1/4 through the season. Last night, the Dallas home game recently, and the road game at Colorado where Bertuzzi had a goal waved off because of intent to blow the whistle. Being a referee is hard stuff, but they got to get rid of these phantom interefence and intent to blow the whistle rules on goals. They are absolutely disgraceful rules. Referees are certainly not out to get the Wings off course, the wrold isn't against us, but the incomptency of the rules are absolute jokes. RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 I just read the article in the FreePress ... apparently there were 2 goals by Cleary that were disallowed, right?

DylanMckay 1 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 s***ty call, but the game would have been lost regardless. Couldn't agree more. Even if that had tied the game the Flames would of still had the momentum and shutout the Wings.

Guest zackmorris Report post Posted November 30, 2009 The problem with this is when you allow a ton of other goals to count under equal or worse circumstances, when you wave off a goal on a technically good call, it just ends up looking ridiculous. What's more, it makes the league look like a ******* joke. Should've been a goal because 9/10 out of 10 it's a goal. We seem to get the s*** end of the stick on this constantly.
