MabusIncarnate 5,359 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 I think Phoenix has a pretty good team this year, and I'd expect them to make the playoffs, but the fans in Phoenix still won't care that they have a hockey team. Kopitar's production has dropped drastically after his brilliant start, and as previously said, he wants out of LA. I think Quick is a pretty poor goaltender, and isn't capable of carrying the Kings to a successful season. I think they have more luck than skill, and will barely make the playoffs if they do at all. I haven't watched enough Colorado games this season to form a fair opinion.
Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 You don't follow hockey much do you? Outside of where Pittsburgh finishes, Jake Ryan has no clue about the wonderful sport of hockey.
skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 LA moreso than the other two but I don't think any of them are a playoff threat.
WMUCarGuy 8 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) While the Wings have always, and will always be my team, since moving from Detroit to LA, I've become a Kings fan (for 78 games a year at least). They're a fun team to watch, full of great young talent, and it's really starting to pay off as the results speak for themselves. The thing is though, no on in LA gives a crap about them, half the city don't even know they exist. I went to the Del Amo mall near my house (one of the largest malls in America) and went to every store that might have some sort of sports memorabilia or apparel and there was not 1 piece of hockey stuff. It pains me to think a market that has 2 teams likely has a quarter the number of fans as Detroit with 1 team, but I guess thats the way it goes. I dunno if they'll have enough to make it into the playoffs, but I hope they do (although definitely not if it's at the Wings expense). seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 Jake Ryan shows his intelligence yet again. I'll defend him here and say that there was nothing stupid about his prediction. The Wings very well could finish in 3rd, they just wouldn't be seeded as such.

I don't know where you guys come up with this stuff. The guy just signed a 7-year extension for crying out loud!!!

On this note, hey f***sticks, stop posting Kopitar to Detroit threads in Rumor Mill, thanks
mmamolo 287 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 I think LA has had a strong rebuil over the last few years and I'm not surprised to see them having some success this year. I think both Colorado and Phoenix are surprises and in my opinion both will fizzle. Anderson is the next coming of Patrick Roy and he wont take them anywhere serious. Phoenix can't score goals and it's only a matter of time until both the Wings and Canucks leap frog these teams in the standings. I think LA makes the playoffs in the 6-8 range while both Colorado and Phoenix end up in the 9-11 range. That being said, Quick is not the goaltender that he needs to be (yet) for the Kings to do any real damage in the playoffs. But really, it's all about playoff draws. Match ups play a huge role so it's tough to say how far they will go.
wingfanatic4alltime 32 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 At the beginning of the year L.A was my sleeper team so i think this team is for real. Colorado and phoenix arent for real imo as was said earlier Colorado is too young and Anderson will just wear out. The good story thats Phoenix will end as well i think. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 Just thought I'd revisit this thread that I started in December. Looks like none of those teams fizzled out. Phoenix, LA and Colorado all made it.

Maybe you should start your own thread about that since you still seem to care so much. This thread was about Colorado, Phoenix and LA.

I'm just going to ignore your remarks, because it's not worth it. I just think it's interesting to read over this thread and see people expecting these younger teams to fold, myself included. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 The Wings will finish in 3rd place behind the Sharks and Blackhawks when it's all said and done. I'm not worried in the slightest. Surprisingly close. He was only off by 2 places which is shocking considering when he made this comment. Oh and Phoenix is the scariest team of these three. They have a great mix of veterans and youth plus they're well coached and have the best goalie in the West.

I thought Colorado was the only clear cut team to make it, and they backed in. But it's hilarious that you backpedal from your statements so easily. LULZ abound with you, big guy. Jake ******* Ryan. Jake Ryan forgot that both the Wings and Hawks can't finish as top 3 seeds. Exactly. Which means he actually thought we'd be in 4th! Holy s***-- he was even closer.
