gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 Strange. I always forget that he spent more time here in Detroit than Chicago. It's still crazy how that all turned out...
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 I wonder which team he turned down. Anyone know of a team that has a lot of injuries and a couple of d-men that kind of suck?
Zion 93 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 I'd love to see him play... will have to catch a Wolves game while I'm in Great Lakes, IL for school.

CenterIce 83 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 He only can play for original six teams. He was talking in the offseason about wanting to play for Toronto or the Rangers, so you might be right.

kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) I saw Cheli play a few weeks ago, and he wasn't a stand-out on the ice even in a sloppy game. At this point any team that would call him up would obviously be looking to take advantage of his positioning and general hockey smarts rather than stand out skills though [so says Capt. Obvious]. His slapper is as brutal as ever! Kronner's brother Staffan was playing against him for Abbotsford after having been sent down from Calgary. He is one big gangly fella. cjm502 165 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) Last week he said he would rather play on the top pairing in the AHL than be a 6th-7th defenseman in the NHL. Edited December 13, 2009 by cjm502
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 No matter what you think about Chelios, that is a decision you must admire and respect. It's pure love for the game.

It's not often that someone finds something they love and can do for a living. More power to him. BTW, I was kidding above when I hinted at the Wings. Hope you all knew that. Guest micah Report post Posted December 13, 2009 I have hated Cheli since he was in Montreal. Only now am I beginning to appreciate him. He isn't the gutless cheapshotter he was when he was young, he isn't the slow, selfish-penalty-taking-machine he was in Detroit, he's just a guy playing for love the game. I hope he stays in the AHL, I'm looking forward to seeing him play in Milwaukee Feb 27th. Really I'm just going to see DKM after the game, but Cheli will be a nice bonus. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 Chelios has always been my favorite player, and I'm glad he's still playing. He's doing well in the AHL I hear, more power to him.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 He only can play for original six teams. How so? Chicago is the AHL affilate of the Atlanta Thrashers, so it's possible he could play for the Thrashers, a non-O6 team.
