You'll never escape it. I'm actually posting from a hotel in Chicago right now and let me tell you, you CAN'T escape it. I have a standard question that I ask every Blackhawk fan when they say they aren't bandwagoners. Who led your team in points in the 06-07 season Kane or Toews? Not one person out of the now 11 people have said the right answer. Neither player was even in the league yet.

I have an interesting update on this for people interested. I had my first person correctly say that neither player was even in the league yet but the answer he gave afterwords is nothing short of genius - Chris Chelios. :yowza:

So I told him he was right and enjoyed listening to him brag to his friends about his immense hockey knowledge as we walked away. "That ****** wings fan must feel like a jackass". Jokes on you my friend, jokes on you.

Blackhawk fans are now 0-15. My colleague is going to the game tonight so he's going to keep track of how many answers he gets.

I love how people think just because the Hawks were bad for ten years, that every fan is now a bandwagoner.

Hard to argue considering that the United Center boasted attendance averages well below 10,000 per game in a 21,000 seat arena for years, while many Hawks "fans" couldn't remember if it was Kane or Toews who led Chicago in points in 2007 despite not having even been drafted yet. If Chicago had such great fans, then why did they start going to games only when the Hawks weren't the laughingstock of the NHL any longer?

Not to mention that most Hawks "fans'' are right up there with Nashville and Pittsburgh in terms of hockey sense, shrieking and screaming for a penalty every time their player trips over himself.

Not to mention the moronic "Detroit sucks!" chants when Chicago isn't even playing Detroit.

You're telling me detroit would have sold out in that situation? You don't even sell out now and you're one of the best organizations/teams in the NHL. Give me a break. Last year in the playoffs, I was in the standing room area for games 3 and 4 and I was surrounded by wings fans and they were all awful hockey fans. Calling franzen holmstrom and vice versa, whining about penalties that didn't exist even though you get 6 PPs a game. You're fans are no better. And some of the knowledgable wings fans I came across last year even said that detroit still has a bandwagon problem.

Comparing Chicago fans to NASHVILLE fans? That's offensive to me.

Again, I guarantee you there are reasons that Hawks fans chanted detroit sucks when they weren't playing them. A) Score was probably mentioned on the scoreboard or something like that. B) Hawks may have been playing the wings in their next game.

Either you live in a cave and aren't aware of Detroit's economic troubles, or you're the ignorant type who makes fun of it like other Chicago and hockey "fans" do. The Red Wings sold out every game from 1996 to 2007, when the economy really started to go south. People simply cannot afford to go to games.

Secondly, congratulations. You've discovered that every sports franchise has its fair share of moronic fans, even the Red Wings. It just so happens that we don't shout "(insert team name) SUCKS!!!!" during games, start fights with opposing fans as I've witnessed at the UC, and intentionally shove Red Wings fans holding their infant child (yes, you read right.)

Comparing Chicago fans to Nashville fans is offensive? Should we not be offended when posters on your board seriously hope for Red Wings players to be taken off the ice on stretchers and carried away in ambulances?

As I said before, the vast majority of Chicago fans are new to hockey and don't know a penalty when they see one, such as the majority of Chicago fans who were calling for Kronwall's expulsion from the NHL after his Havlat hit. (Don't you notice that 99.9 percent of posters on this board acknowledge that Ohulund's similar hit on Zetterberg was perfectly clean and that the only anger was the result of the hit, not how it happened? Guess not.)

The reasons Chicago fans chant Detroit sucks during games is out of irrational hatred and pure jealousy. I've watched Chicago home games where their "fans" chant Detroit sucks when they don't play Detroit for another month. Not only unoriginal, but just plain stupid.

EDIT: Also on the attendance subject....wonder why the Red Wings manage 99 percent of the time to sell out opposing arenas that otherwise would not have been sold out. Chicago doesn't do that.

I don't care what kind of fans Chicago has as long as they keep selling out. More money being brought into the NHL = a higher cap = we retain our talent.

You guys whining about Chicago's fanbase are pathetic. Think about the greater good here and how it benefits the Wings. We can actually have a worthy rival again in the West.

Nah, more money being brought into the NHL = Bettman thinking fans love hockey so much that a franchise would thrive in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

This. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Chicago and did not even know what a backcheck was. Seriously, hockey was not even known about in my childhood. No one talked about it. Parents didnt know what it was.

Having Chicago be a decent team is a great thing. We need someone to challenge us. They also have a great Hockey Heritage.

These 'fans' are going through a growing phase. The more the Hawks win, the more interest will grow in them, the more people will learn about them. This is good for hockey.

I did not start watching hockey till I moved to Michigan. Since I have learned about hockey so much in the past 8 years I have taken the time to learn OUR Michigan Hockey heritage.

Having areas of hockey growth is important. There will always be ignorant fans. Some of us that shun other fans on this board should think twice. Allowing a hockey dialogue is part of why I have been on the boards for so long. Its when we go overboard and ignore that other teams are good or that other teams have a chance on any given night makes US just as low as other fanbases around the league.

"Stay classy, San D.... Detroit!"

GO WINGS!

lol. So you can sell out other arenas but not you're own? So you can afford to go to other cities, stay in hotels, pay for transportation to said cities and pay for tickets but you can't do this for your own home games? I dont get it.

I don't know who you were talking to about the Kronwall hit because it was certainly as clean as you can get. Sure he left his feet a little prior to contact but Havlat had his head down and just got lit up, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Who cares though, he plays for Minny now, so I couldn't care any less about the hit.

I've been to several Hawks games where detroit sucks was chanted without detroit in town and each time we were playing the wings next.

A: The Joe usually sells out, but when the Wings go to other cities that city WILL sell out. Sorry, but the Wings bring a better game than the Hawks. Sorry that we play great hockey CONSISTENTLY.

B. Yes, since the Wings will be there in a couple of days, that make it much less retarded... wait no it doesn't.

Other teams fans want to watch their team play Detroit. #1 in road attendance last year. What is not to get? You cant literally be that stupid.

I sure as hell can't afford that. Neither can any of the people who can't afford to go to games at the Joe. People that live in NHL cities that are better off economically than Detroit can.
