FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 I don't know if anyone is watching the Sharks and Caps game, but there's been 2 penalty shots so far. Clowe and Thornton scored on both of them. I've never seen 2 penalty shots in the same game before. So my question is, Has there ever been 2 penalty shots in the same game? If so, have both players ever scored on both attempts? Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 Bettman probably thought it would be fun to see more penalty shots. Is this a testament to the remainder of the season? Could be.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 Speaking of this game, Ovechkin and Boyle get into it but the linesman dont allow anything further.
FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Haha. The announcers answer my question. Last time: Vancouver did it vs Detroit, Feburary 11 1982. 4-4 tie. Edited December 31, 2009 by FunkedUp
adubs 8 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 Dustin Brown was awarded a penalty shot against the Flames for no apparent reason and failed big time. Three penalty shots in one night and one last night, I guess the league is calling for more to increase scoring.

neonsign 2 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 I think the Wings had 2 in the same period in a game a couple of years ago. 'twas against Florida(in 07, i think), Datsyuk had the first but failed to score, then Vokoun threw his stick and Flippula scored on the shot.
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 I didn't see a replay of the first penalty when I was watching the game tonight, but when it happened I could not believe that they called it a penalty shot. I have seen far more obvious breakaways that ended up with 2 minute penalties.
