GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 Fun topic Micah Some of these fellas are rated a bit higher due to fond memories: 1) Probert 2) Kocur 3) Grimson 4) Crowder {now it gets a little challenging} 5) tie Shanahan/Carkner/Clark/Gallant 6) tie McCarty/May/Downey/Snepsts 7) tie Lapointe/McKay/Primeau/Hatcher/Graves 8) tie Marc Potvin/Cummins 9) tie Chaisson/Rouse/Macoun 10) Lilja Randy McKay was a really good fighter. Much better than those guys you have him tied with. I think he was underlooked on everyone's list, including mine. Lapointe was never much more than a hugger, so I don't know why all you guys think he was such a good fighter.
Guest micah Report post Posted January 12, 2010 Randy McKay was a really good fighter. Much better than those guys you have him tied with. I think he was underlooked on everyone's list, including mine. Lapointe was never much more than a hugger, so I don't know why all you guys think he was such a good fighter. I have McKay at 10, but this group could be shuffled into any order and I wouldn't really argue it. Shanny should probably be at the bottom of them, but I don't see any real different in the pugilistic abilities of these guys. Darren McCarty Basil McRae Brad May Brendan Shanahan Randy McKay May is a better fighter recently than he was when he was young. Shanny really slowed down his fighting as years went on. The three Mcs were willing and able to go with anyone, anytime. I kinda wish we would have had McKay, McRae and McCarty at the same time. Throw in DJ King and we'd have 3 MCs and 1 DJ, and we'd be gettin' down without no delay. Lapointe was, as you get at, not much of a fighter. He was very strong, which made his fights even more dislapointe-ing (geddit? if you don't I can explain - it's a play on words. I combined Martin Lapoint's last name with the word "disapoint". Geddit now? Still no? I'll draw you a diagram. You're gonna laugh ).
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) I base mine more off of fighting ability, not just guys that would drop them anytime, but actually had the best form, always put up a damn good fight/won and would go through a wall for teammates... 1. Bob Probert 2. Joe Kocur 3. Darren McCarty 4. Dennis Polonich 5. Stu Grimson 6. Troy Crowder 7. Brendan Shanahan 8. Gerard Gallant 9. Terry Carkner 10.
