Kenny has stated repeatedly he doesn't like doing that. He thinks it often times it shatters a players confidence and takes a long time to build back up. He likes to keep them dominating in the minors until they are a little over ripe and ready for the big time.

just watched him play last night. He looked ok, but not anywhere near ready for NHL. People need to give it a rest on Tatar. HE IS NOT COMING UP TO DETROIT!

As for Tatar, the Wings love to over-develop their players. I'd be shocked if he was even up next year unless he REALLY starts tearing it up. He looks like he'll be good, but I say he'll be seeing another couple of seasons in the minors.

I think we might see Tatar up to fill in for injuries a bit next season, and based on how he does in those opportunities (and how he's doing in the AHL) we might or might not see him as a normal fixture 2 seasons from now. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the Wings though.

We're not a bad club, we've just been hit by the injury bug. The fact we're only one point out of 8th with all the games lost due to injury proves we're a good team.

'Most other clubs' also haven't had the sustained success that the wings have. The reason the Wings have been so good for so long is their uncanny knack for player development.

Anyone who thinks Tatar is ready for the NHL needs their head checked. If we were in the position the Leafs are in, yeah maybe he would get a chance. But we're not that desperate, especially not now that we're getting bodies back.

Physically he isn't ready. Offensively and in terms of thinking the game and skating? I think he might be. Offensively he's playing as well in the AHL as Filppula and Hudler were (if we look at Tatar's stats from mid November until now).

I think that's why Abdelkader was thrown into the NHL too quickly. His offensive confidence has gone down the tubes. If we're unlucky he'll end up being a less energetic Helm. He had the potential to be an offensive threat who could pot 15 goals a year.

After a tough run at the World Juniors, Tatar is happy to be playing in the American Hockey League once again.

“Here is tougher a little bit, but it doesn’t matter because you play with good guys,†Tatar said. “Like here, I play with guys that should play NHL, so I play better. Guys help me with corners, different defenses.â€

He seems to have a very very good head on his shoulders. I think "under-performing" at the WJC, actually helped him, as it showed that he isn't invincible. Physically he NEEDS to get bigger. He's admitted that he lacks the "corner" game. If he puts on another 20 pounds of muscle he'll be the same size as Datsyuk.

I hope he takes Fillpula's route, in the sense to improve his defense constantly, because I'd rather him turn into a Filppula with a more nose for the goal, instead of a Hudler who is offensively overly-gifted, but under-sized and a one dimensional player.

I do think Tatar is ahead of the curve though in the sense he GETS the game better than those two at that point. It wasn't til' Hudler's thrid season in the AHL where he became a plus 1ppg player, while Filppulas first and only season in the AHL he was a .98 ppg player.

By the time Tatar's done this season you can expect his ppg to be at or above 0.90. I'd be shocked if it isn't. He's steadily brought it up game by game.
