Your right He is not up to par cause he hasnt been getting time everyone needs to have more than one game every 30 to get a rythm going... Im not defending his 5 hole tho.... relax.. Osgood will come around when he has more games to play..soon too cause Im not sure Howard can handle the reps he's getting... not for much longer he's gonna get burned out. How bout the lack of offense too????? It's Everything that is hurting this team.. its just easier for you to blame Osgood.. we did lose the last 2 before this.. and Howard was in Net.. but because it was a shootout its different eh? I dont think so. Edited January 20, 2010 by Hockeytown_Ryan

Guest R2D2 Report post Posted January 20, 2010 You're not going to win many games scoring 2-3 a night regardless of who's in goal. The shots on goal disparity was rather large though, you must admit. Osgood was a mediocre goalie at his prime, now he's a below average goalie in his later years. I wish Osgood would practice as much as he talks to the press. Just sayin'... Bradley was in behind the defense and had a open net backdoor. Yep, Osgood's fault. Stuart did nothing but ice dance with Backstrom and prevent any other Wing from playing him, allowing him to get in close and then walk around him for a point-blank chance. The third goal was on a bad Wings line change, effectively five Caps and two Wings (Lebda and Ericsson) on the ice on a rush, and Osgood was screened. Yep, completely weak goals and totally Osgood's fault. Howard would likely have cast a spell after it went in to reverse time so that he could stop the puck at the point of entry. That bastard Osgood didn't, and we lost because of it.

I really hate getting in on these goalie debates but Eva, since you're such a stats junkie, how do you explain this: 2008-09 DET 3.09 .887 2009-10 DET 2.83 .896 Straight up, Osgood has been mediocre to downright horrible for the past two regular seasons. Don't bring up the playoffs because this team won't make the playoffs if he can't win them some games. I'm not saying win them every game, but the team in front of him isn't going to be flawless night in and night out like it seems you expect them to be. king_malice 17 Report post Posted January 21, 2010 exactly osgood has played like s*** the past 2 seasons straight. So your telling me that just because staurt gets burned osgood cant make the stop ? so why not have an empty net then if he cant stop those chances?. Give me a break i like osgood but they way the wings are playing and with the injuries the he is not playing nearly as good as howard.Look at the devils ya they have broduer and hes on another level but they had there share of injuries to and this guy steps up and unloads shutout after shutout and win after win.So your comments about far side shots and backstrom beating stuart are pointless plenty of goalies could have made those stops especially on the backstrom chance. Shady Ultima 40 Report post Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) cause wayne gretzky, luongo, orrand other guys with rings where never traded or released right ?! osgood cant play forever clearly!..so why not give another kid the chance Luongo has won a cup? Where? When? Osgood is the playoff goalie. He's not much for regular season play for some reason, but I would not feel comfortable in the playoffs with two rookie goalies. Plus, Larsson is in no way ready to play in the NHL. Hell, why not bring Pearce and Tatar up while we're at it. They're good in the minors, they HAVE to be good in the NHL right? Look at Steve Ott, the guy was great when he was in the OHL... not so much in the NHL Look at the devils ya they have broduer and hes on another level but they had there share of injuries to and this guy steps up and unloads shutout after shutout and win after win. Comparing Osgood to Brodeur is like comparing Gretzky to Kopecky. Edited January 22, 2010 by Shady Ultima
