HockeyTownHouligan 57 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 i think they do it, realistcally lidstrom was a few feet away from everyone not freakin out and being hoisted up on everyone's shoulders like he usually is. They just had a defensive hickup that needs to be worked on and talked about by players and coaching staff. granted it did cost them the game but I'm sure they took that loss to heart knowing they had a two goal lead with 130 left in the third or so. I'm not worried they just cant get discouraged.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 olympic break = rest time for injured players pretty much the whole team including the possibility of lilja will be back after that. you ask me, with a healthy roster can the wings go 20-9-1...hell yeah. anyone who thinks otherwise is not a true wings fan Most of our top players are going to the Olympics, except for Franzen. The fact that Jason Williams is going to rest isn't going to help the rest of the team. The Olympics are a grind where you play many games in few days. That's not good rest for the top stars, especially the older players like Lidstrom, Rafalski and Homer.
GSBrooks13 204 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 I dont see how everyone seems to think 20-9-1 i so unattainable.. i mean its been a rough season but thats still only 2 wins for every loss.. With a healthy group of Wings on a team that hasnt really had any hot streaks to speak of.. I think its entirely possible.. Say the healthy Wings manage to throw together a nice 5 game win streak after the Olympic break.. then its only 15-9-1 needed to grab 100 points.. You see it almost every year in atleast one conference.. all it takes is one late season push or hot streak to make the playoffs.

SweWings 45 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 We´ll see I hope you're prepared to eat crow if they fail I would think this would be the least of his things to worry about if that happened.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Yeah, 20-9-1 may seem impossible, but won't all the teams below us have to do better than that? Oh no, no, no.....we don't want to consider that *fact* when discussing the Wings' potential to make the postseason or not. We´ll see I hope you're prepared to eat crow if they fail And are you going to be prepared to eat crow if they don't?
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Right now Phoenix is just barely on pace to make 100 points right now and they are currently 5th in the league. Granted LA is only two points behind them and have a game in hand, so they're in the same boat. Anyway, I don't think the Wings will end up needing 100 points to make the playoffs this year. I'm still expecting them to end up in 4th, but we'll see what happens.
clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 They should make the playoffs as long as Osgood stays out of the net.
