Sergei Kolosov will play for Belarus.

Grand Rapids Griffins defenseman Sergei Kolosov will play for Belarus at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.

Kolosov, who was not named to Belarus’ provisional Olympic roster in December, will depart Grand Rapids on Sunday to join his Belarusian teammates at a training camp in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Pretty neat that a Griffin gets to play in the Olympics.

Hey look at it this way, one of our prospects gets experience playing against NHL-caliber players without having to get called up from Grand Rapids. It's a good thing for him (unless he gets hurt), and it's got to be a great honor to play for your country in the Olympics, even if your team stands a good chance of being shut out of every game.

Speaking of Belarus, aside from the Kostytsin brothers, do they have any other NHLers in their lineup?

Edit: Grabovski and Salei, plus a couple of other AHL prospects.

A future Wing (possibly) being considered a World Class talent? I'm all for it. Go Belarus!!! Upset somebody!

Playing for Belarus in the Olympics doesn't mean your world class, it means you were born in Belarus and you're able to play hockey :P
