The players that are hated (Getzlaf, Perry, Crosby, Niedermayer, Iginla, Pronger) all bring it big time in the postseason, and I expect no less in these games. Will be a fun games, that's for sure. This has very little to do with the subject matter but Gretzky's behavior during the lighting of the torch was beyond weird. OK, so there was a glitch. Big frickin' deal. His job at that time was to look at ease and smile, even though I'm sure he knew something was amiss. For all the years cameras were on him, you'd think he would have figured that out. Who hates Canada? Americans don't care for dirtbag Canadian players like Pronger and a few others mentioned. (They also tend to overreact when their team wins, like the Habs fans nearly blowing up the city after the Habs got out of the first round.) Not saying that's you or anything. I gladly concede that hockey originated in Canada and is therefore Canada's game, similar to the US and baseball. I'm rooting for the US, but have no problems if the Canadians capture the gold. This is if, like me, you come from a country who aren't represented in the Hockey tournament. Alas GB are unlikely to repeat their Gold medal performance from 1924 Me, I'm going for Russia so that Pav can complete his trophy collection, and so that we (hopefully) see their Fab Four strut their stuff. Sweden, sorry guys, but for the Wings sake you guys need to crash and burn. If USA is out, I won't even pretend to give 2 s***s about who wins. As far as the Wings' players representing their respective countries go, the only thing that matters to me is the Stanely Cup. Could care less if any of them gets a medal. They don't represent my country and at present, aren't representing the Detroit Red Wings so I simply don't care. Whoever does win, great for them. Kudos. Just not a big deal for me. The only thing I don't want to see is Canada gold. I have mad love for Canada, don't get me wrong. But I just want them to lose when it counts. They're our closest rival and they can claim to have the best of the best almost every year. Tough to root against Stevie Y and Babs but with guys like Pronger and Crosby and Perry and Getzlaf on the roster, I am more than happy when they f*** up. We got the World Juniors already. I *prefer* teams with a lot of Red Wings to do well, but I don't mind if they don't. Unlike the '06 games I wouldn't mind seeing Canada win the gold, simply because of Stevie and Babs. Dats winning it would be nice as well. The Swed Wings won it last time so I don't mind seeing them not take home the gold. Again, this is all contingent on USA not making it to a medal game. If they're favorite Red Wing leaves, their devotion to the team leaves, whereas to me, the logo on the jersey is more important than who's wearing it. Otherwise, Canada. I'd love to see Yzerman, Babcock and Holland get some much deserved respect from their home country.
