2010 Winter Olympics - Sweden vs Germany (Group C)

this was basically treated as practice (even though they knew it was going to be tough etc).

I don't like the sound of that actually. I perceive that as Team Sweden taking a game lightly and for granted. But that's just me and I'm wrong a lot.

They liked Z-Forsberg

So did I but like Dat's Sick said earlier, I'm hoping that's the line that Franzen will work his way onto for a more permanent spot. But I like how they said Franzen won't stay there.

What do you and anyone else in Sweden think of Hornqvist? It was only one game and we really shouldn't judge too much from it but I couldn't help think that he'll eventually fall into the bottom six and that I'd rather have Sammy (yes, Sammy) in that kind of role instead of him. A line of Modin-Pahlsson-Samuelsson could do a nice job against anyone else's bottom six.

I don't think they took them lightly exactly. It was more that they had only had one real practice (or two?) and they had decided to roll the lines as much as possible to get everyone used to each other. Hornqvist needs to learn how to play with two world class players or get out of there (he wasn't ready for a few foppa passes and he tried to do too much himself). I think everyone wanted Franzen there and I think he'll end up there too. The 'expert' commentator said as much when he said that Franzen won't stay long on the fourth. 'Eriksson was good, but Hornqvist and Weinhandl better watch out.'

Decent first game for Sweden. Looked good at times, bad at others. Germany is a pretty good team so I'm not too bothered we "only" won with 2-0. Germany won't get crushed by anyone else.

Forsberg and Zetterberg probably impressed me the most this game. They look good together. All they need is Franzen on their line, Hornqvist isn't really smart or skilled enough to keep up. Sedins looked better in the 3rd and so did Backstrom-Alfredsson. Don't think any huge linechanges are needed.

Johansson is obviously not a d-man for the Olympics though. If he looks this bad against Germany, how will he look against Russia or Canada?

Agreed, and I can't say I'm surprised. He has never been good in his own zone and especially not against decent opposition. He is gonna cost us more than one goal in the upcoming games. :ranting:

Game was quite boring, esp. the 3rd period. A win is a win tbh and there were enough positives in the game for me not to be discouraged. Franzén should get bumped up - he's too good for a checking line. Forsberg seems to be fine. Lundqvist was calm and relaxed. Sedins are doing their thing and if Franzén joins that line good things will happen. Bäckström and Alfy work really well - probably the best Swedish line. Enström and Öhlund looked much better than I thought.

I think we're going to see the line combos change a bit but as it is right now I'm not too worried. The real test will be Finland anyway.

Regarding streams, try www.eurovisionsports.com, but it may require a Swedish/European IP address.

I live in Belgium, but have access to every single event of the Olympics online (lots of it without commentary) through the Swedish government television channel's website, SVTPlay.se.

It requires a Swedish IP address to watch, but a very easy way to do that is to use relakks.com. It costs 15 euros for three months.

Well, the obvious answer to that is to use www.myp2p.eu!

I have Silverlight, so if that's all it requires, it's golden. No, Canadian commentary is not a problem.
