Nice win for Sweden. If I were to describe it, I wouldn't necessarily say that they played harder than the Finns. Not that they didn't play hard-I just think the Swedes played smarter.

Wow. When Canada beats Germany, they're going to have to play Russia in the Quarterfinal. That means one of the two favorites coming into the tournament is going to be gone before the Semifinals.

Check out the possible groupings.

On the top half the Czecks, USA, Finland, could make the semi's.

On the bottom half Canada, Slovakia, Sweden and Russia.

I guess all of us who picked Russia, Canada and Sweden to medal have to re-adjust. USA looking pretty strong to get to the Gold medal game. Bottom half is stacked.

So.. after group stage the standings are like this:

1. USA

2. SWE

3. RUS

4. FIN

5. CZE

6. CAN

Who in the world couldve predicted this? Anyway.. A lil observation I made:

USA gets a much more favourable way to the finals than Sweden.

Sweden will play a stacked slovakian team and if they win, theyll face either canada or russia in the semis.

Usa on the other hand will first play swiss/belarus and then fin/cze in the semis.

The only difference between the 1st and 2nd seed is 2 goals and look what brackets they get. I'm not saying team USA dont deserve it or anything, because I do, I just wish that the brackets were more even. But its olympic hockey and it happens every tournament so I guess its nothing to whine about.

The only way to beat Canada is before an eventual final. I'm glad that Sweden get Canada/Russia in a semifinal if they manage to beat Slovakia.

When Sweden doesn't win in the qualification round then it's called loosing on purpose, but when Finland does it it's just a bad game by them.
