I'm pretty sure Datsyuk did the "datsyuk" move first when he was back in Russia.

honestly i don't know much about what he did prior to the nhl so your probably correct. regardless i have yet to see anyone perform that move anywhere near the smoothness that Datsyuk is capable of.

when someone gets deked out of their jocks its not called a crosbian deke, or even an ovechkian/malkanian deke

it's called a datsyukian deke

/thread

Well, of course, in Michigan. Have people called it that outside of MI?

I may be a bit biased seeing as the guy who scored in the first clip this did it for my hometown minor league team on the same ice surface that I grew up playing hockey on, and even though they are not NHL player on NHL goalie, as far as two players playing on the same level I think these are both better than Pav's famous goal:

A few things to consider

1 - The move Dats is best known for is NOT the Linus Omark move. Dats did the Omark move in the Chicago shootout this season (as seen in the Dats/Bert vid posted)

2 - The real 'signature' Datsyuk move is the one he is shown pulling on Turco in the OP's pic.

3 - He's done that 'signature' move twice in NHL shootouts, and once on a breakaway in regular NHL game conditions (on Turco)

Point 3 in my opinion makes Dats' move better than any other shootout move, especially any move from a skills competition.

I'm pretty sure Linus Omark did not come up with the chip shot thing, and that Datsyuk did not come up with the Datsyuk thing. Hockey has been played for a long time. I'm sure all these moves have been done many times in the past. (either by accident or intention) I remember when I was roughly ten or so I scored a goal in Linus Omark fasion... but it was a complete accident hehe.

While it's nice to say those players invented those moves, I have to agree with you. So much of hockey is undocumented that there is no real way to say who invented what. But more than likely, someone has done this stuff before.
