skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 The angle they showed Kesler's penalty at didn't really show anything that should have been called. That was just an odd series of events.
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) Insane sequence there... wow Swiss can't catch any luck.. first the weird bounce in and then the post after the puck rolled right along the line Edited February 24, 2010 by T-Ruff
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 That was kind of nuts. Question, if the Swiss shot had went in and there were no interference penalty and the US goal counted, would the US goal still count? And if not, why not stop play right then? Question, if the Swiss shot had went in and there were no interference penalty and the US goal counted, would the US goal still count? And if not, why not stop play right then? If the Swiss goal was a goal, any goal that happened after would be a non-goal. That said, amazingly enough, I do believe there still would have been the penalty. And if not, why not stop play right then? 1) No, time would go back to the Swiss goal and then start from there. 2) Just in case the goal didn't go in and play should have indeed continued

And yes, the site is being a little slow. Only usually happens during Wings playoff games when we have up to a 1,000 people at a time.

Guest Blackhawkdown Report post Posted February 24, 2010 I love the olympics but i just cant root for my own country when there team is stacked with NHL players who get paid millions of dollars. NHL players do not belong in the olympics should be the college kids and who ever else is great at ice hockey who is not pro. That is why the miracle on ice is such a great story. I kinda understand what you are saying, especially about the miracle on ice, but still, this is the olympics, why wouldnt you want the best players playing for your country? Personally, I want to see the best players for my country play, because as cool as it is to see the underdogs win, I would feel a little cheated if we didnt have our best players playing. It wouldnt seem like we gave it our best shot.

Serapth 3 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 That's what I thought. Then why not just stop play when there's any question? I actually like the international hockey does it. Think about it, how much happens on near goals or following near goals... I mean, look what happened there, a goal may have been scored, then it was skated to the other end of the rink and a goal actually was scored! Makes for much more exciting hockey without the excessive stops. I like the idea of let them play and sort it out all later.

Makes for much more exciting hockey without the excessive stops. I like the idea of let them play and sort it out all later. I suppose this is true. But it also doesn't happen very often where a goal isnt clear and play isnt at least stopped at the same time. I just know I'd be pissed if I'd scored a goal then basically it's ruled that it never happened. Time for an insurance goal boys!

That said, amazingly enough, I do believe there still would have been the penalty. I don't think that's correct. If a goal takes place, any and all action that happens after that is null and void. The only way something could happen is if a match penalty took place.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 No, the penalty gets called. Didn't that happen to the Wings this year? I know it happened to the Leafs at least. Is that NHL rules, or IIHF? Either way, that's the dumbest rule in the world. It should be based on severity. Throwing the puck out of play after a goal isn't called shouldn't result in a team going to the box.
