As a proud Canadian I will be the first to admit that Moosehead isnt great or even good beer. Almost all mass produced beer is piss, unless of course you are belgian. The Belgians know how to mass produce beer!

Don't tell me about beer, son:)

I know all too well the talent of the Trappist Monks! What greater life could a man lead than serving his Lord and making the world's greatest beer?

i actually like moosehead. but my favourite is german beer. i only have it once a year and thats whenever i go to germany. i love trying the many tastes :yowza:

You don't have German beer where you're from? I prefer Czech anyway, although German beer's very good. Except in England. Everything tastes worse in England.

Have you tried your caffeine in enema form? I'm not recommending it, but I promise it will keep you up!

Thanks. Not sure I would enjoy it. The unpleasant thought might keep me awake in itself though.

To go wanderingly off topic even more, I like german beer, but I find their purity laws just make it far too samey, especially the commonly exported stuff. I mean, there isn't a ton of difference between a Heinekin, Becks, Löwenbräu, Bitburger or a Grolsch. It may be different on tap, but thats a rarity. I do enjoy a Hackor Pschor on occasion though.

Now Belgium though, that place is briming with excellent beer! From the excellent and my personal favorite tapist beer Chimay Red to the mass market but oh so wonderful Hoegarrden. If lagers your thing, Stella isn't bad, but then, Lager isn't really my thing.

Read my later post. :)

Chimay is hands down my favorite line of beers. That said, and I am sure you know this already, if you are a fan of the lords brews, there is a fine brewery in Quebec by the name of Unibroue who make some of the best beers, not just in North America, but the entire world. La Fin du Monde, Maudite, Tois Pistoles, the list goes on and on.. Plus a wonderful Belgian Wit Blanche du Chambly, that truly is the definition of great beer!

Those are Dutch. I thought Hoegaarden was Dutch too? Was never a fan of weissbier myself. Tried Starobrno?

Ah, good point, my bad. That said, Dutch, German, same wooden shoe, different foot, no? ;)

I am not sure if I tried it, I had a Czeck friend that introduced me to about every beer they make... pretty much in the same day, so the memories are all at bit blurred.

Yeah that sounds about right :) They're still good though. The two classic one's are otherwise Urquell (the first lager, or pilsner) and Staropramen. Both very good.

I guess I'm rooting for Finland here?

Well I am. I'd like to see Selanne get a gold.

BTW, to add even more to the off topic mess, my roommate likes your Pink Floyd references.

You are a Chicagoan, but you were born in NC?

Nothing here's off topic. The conversation reflects perfectly the excitement of the current game.

The St. Bernardus collection are all great mass-produced Belgian beers. Chimay, Duvel are both good. Westvleteren, though is the best. If any of you ever get your hands on this then you gotta get it. Though, I still think American micro-breweries make the best beer.

Bells, Founders, Kuhnhen are all great local breweries.

Pilsner Urquell I know well, its very expensive here though ( about 13$ for a 6 pack ). Its good, but not at premium beer prices.

That's crazy. It's maybe half that in Sweden, and one tenth of that in Eastern Europe. Of course, to drink it regularly at that price you would have to live in Eastern Europe.
