Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Samuelsson scored tonight. As did Leino. As did Hossa. Fleischmann had an assist. As did Matthias. Just sayin'. Roster limit and salary cap. Just sayin'.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 That was bad. I wonder if this truly is the Wings team or if the 08 team is just taking a little longer to get here? Unfortunately, it's the former. Please god let Calgary lose.
Marty Barry 230 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Maybe we just didn't give Leino enough time?
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) anyone have any balls in the red wings organization? Where were you guys earlier when I was practically the only one seemingly upset at our management's decision not to do a damn thing today? A shake up was EXACTLY what the team needed. Perhaps you see why now? Edited March 4, 2010 by ShanahanMan

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Roster limit and salary cap. Just sayin'. Ummmm, yea and who put us there? Theres no reason teams like Chicago and Pittsburgh can make moves while we can't. There are ALWAYS options. But no, since Holland considers injured players deadline deals, no moves need be done. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 I seriously miss Huds, 57 points while getting 13/14 mins per game? Ridiculous. I'm sure Holland is thinking the same thing.
BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Maybe we should've brought back Bert. Robert Lang is certainly what this team needs at this point
Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Babs did pull Howard too quickly. Ozzie hasn't played in forever, throwing him into a game like this was destined for failure. Yeah. I don't see why Babs pulled Howard. Perhaps if it was the other way around, but Osgood is not exactly in the position to be put out there willy nilly and do well. Well watching this stupid ******* Olympics ceremony prior to the Flames game gives me hope bad karma is going to crash down on them. But your right, God doesnt like Detroit and Calgary made 2 deals today, it's over.

Dave 324 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Yeah. I don't see why Babs pulled Howard. Perhaps if it was the other way around, but Osgood is not exactly in the position to be put out there willy nilly and do well. Because the whole team was playing lazy. It wasn't so much the goalie, but he tried to wake the team up....guess they were in a deeper sleep than he thought.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) Maybe we should've brought back Bert. Haha. Maybe.....but keep in mind there was a stretch of games where he's the only reason we won. Our record would have been at least six games worse if it wasn't single handedly for him. Also, the guy IS 4th on the team in points and he's still on pace to finish with at least 20 goals. Not bad for 1.5 mil. Edited March 4, 2010 by ShanahanMan

I mean come on we are supposed to be trying to prop these goaltenders up motivationally and you kill two birds in one stone by pulling Howard after 4 goals and then putting a very rusty Osgood to play arguably worse. Me no likey. Me also no likey missing Franzen's goal because of crap in the household going on. How was it? Edited March 4, 2010 by Doc Holliday

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Samuelsson scored tonight. As did Leino. As did Hossa. Fleischmann had an assist. As did Matthias. Just sayin'. It's odd hearing you say that seeing as Flip would've been the obvious first guy to go if we kept someone like Hossa. And not surprisingly, I would've made the move. As I've said numerous times, Flip's strengths (and they are great strengths in many ways) don't help with enough of the teams weaknesses, or really the teams biggest weakness, that being scoring. We've got one pure goal scorer who's consistent in Franzen. Bert and Homer are goal scorers but they're older, inconsistent, and especially in the case of Holmstrom, fragile. Dats and Z can score goals but they're not necessarily "shoot first" guys. As much as I think Hossa would've helped this team down the stretch (and for years to come), I really think this season would've been a lot different even with Sammy. I'm not even thinking injuries here or considering that Sammy's having a better year than most expected him to. I'm just talking balance in general as far as roles go. I mean, hell, for all the s*** we gave Sammy while he was here, the guy SHOT THE PUCK!!! Even the crap shots can help create opportunities and get the other team on its heels a bit. And there's no question that the same and more times ten stands for Hossa's ability to SHOOT and SCORE all while playing a great 2-way game and being an excellent play-maker as well. *sigh... Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Hey guys. I missed the game because I was working all night. I guess I'm relieved I did. On the somewhat bright side, losing by 3 is no different than losing by 1 in regulation in the points. It sounds like we played like s***, but maybe a bad loss is better because it will piss some people off and start a fire where losing by only one would be kinda like "Oh well whatever." (Being more positive is one of my Lent goals)
BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 I'll side with the best GM in hockey. The real question is how long will that moniker still be attached to Holland? every team eventually has a bad year, but this off-season will determine if Holland truly is the best GM in hockey.
