Realistically I think the Wings, baring a melt down, can finish anywhere they want from 5th-8th. They have a very easy schedule left. Now, the top 4 seeds are basically set, Chicago, San Jose, Phoenix, and Vancouver. So who would you want in the first round? Chicago and Vancouver are probably no ways for most people. But will San Jose really have another first round exit? Phoenix seems like the best opponent, but they are red hot. I would say Chicago or Phoenix would be preferential.

That Stars win tonight is a big help. The Wings need to beat Nashville twice in regulation still to help their own cause.

I don't really like to 'pick your poison' because all four top teams in the West would make a tough first round opponent for the Wings. However, I do not want Chicago whatsoever. I would take Phoenix, San Jose, and Vancouver in that order.

And all four of those teams have the Red Wings at the top of their "avoid at all cost" list.

I think it would be interesting for the Wings to be the giant killer this time around. I want Chicago or Vancouver. (Chicago would be more ideal, for travel reasons/fatigue for possible later rounds)

Well...very easy schedule?? They still have to play St. Louis (1-4 record), Edmonton (0-3 record) and Chicago (2-3 record).
