I'm not saying enforcers are necessary because I don't think they are I would rather have a few tough guys like Abdelkader, and Nystrom middle weight types that can handle themselves.

Thats basically what im trying to get at.You could pay for another Abs with Boogards salary.

Pretty much.

The regular season isn't meaningless anymore, as we found out this season. The tougher your team is, the tougher the other players on the team who aren't considered physical will play. Just look at Leino in Philly.

Babcock himself has talked about the importance of enforcers before. I suppose he's stupid, but the anti-enforcer posters here on LGW know more about hockey than Babcock does when they say things like, "enforcers are useless".

Everyone here knows more than the 30 GM's in the league who try to carry enforcers on their team.

Yeah and if they dont care true enforcers, every team in the league carrys at least one person that they want to fight. Babcock even told Abdelkader to start fighting more when he got sent down at the end of the season.

But yeah I guess Babcock is just stupid and Holland wants to sign a player thats tough to play against(Which basically implies scrappy guy)but yeah those skill lovers on LGW know way more then Kenny and Babcock.

If enforcers are important why do they never get any ice time come playoffs? Educate me.

Please tell me how many fights you saw this post season.

Like i said in today's NHL enforcers are pretty much useless. Just a waste of cap space.

Now if the guy can actually play thats another story. But having a player that can only fight is pretty useless post lockout NHL.

Then you should become a GM, because you seem to know more than any of them do when they sign enforcers. You're also smarter than all the coaches who dress them.

As for the playoffs, fighting has always been down in the playoffs traditionally. That doesn't mean enforcers are completely useless now.

ok i get your idea thats like your 4th post telling me i should be a GM because i know more.

but anyways...the point im trying to make is i much rather have a player that can hold there own in fights and dish it out when need be and can actually contribute on the scoreboard to help win games.Abs,Eaves for example. Having a player that just fights is too one dimensional and a waste of cap space imo. And im pretty sure there has been literally no fights this post season and only 2 that i can remember last year. Just saying...

Do we need another Abs? I like the one we have, but why shop for more? We have, especially with the return of Hudler, plenty of skilled guys who can put up points. Let's play a thug on the 4th line 4 minutes a night for the majority of the regular season to help keep the flies off (Babs says it does that), and when playoff time comes reward the best forward in GR with some sweet Wings action.

Ya but thats only because Boogaard is established as the toughest guy in the league and Abs is on an entry level contract. With Boogaard money you could also sign another Jason Williams who has talent but is completely useless because he does nothing with it.

I would rather have a guy who knows his role on the team and does it perfectly.

Theres alot of players like that like Koci and Ivanans that I wouldn't want but I wouldn't count boogard as a guy who just fights. He's really not that bad of a player, just because you don't get points on the 4th line doesn't mean you don't do other things well.

I'm certain you're wrong.

There haven't been many, perhaps 8-10 or so, but that's because the post-season is different from the regular season. The role of the toughguy is to protect the players, because players that miss the playoffs don't help in the playoffs.

I suppose it's also to sell tickets and get people to bother to tune in on TV in November.

Do you really want to see Abs get his ass kicked some more, with no one to back him up?

I don't mind keeping guys like Eaves and Abs on the team, but those guys would be much better hitters and grinders with a guy like Boogaard backing them up. They don't need to do the dirty work when someone else can do it for them. They'll probably get hurt eventually if they fight some more, because they suck at it.

Besides, like I said earlier, a guy like Torres will be harder to find than a pure enforcer.

Tanner Glass or Shawn Thornton would be perfect if we are looking for someone who can fight and actually knows how to play hockey. If we are looking for a straight up heavyweight Steve MacIntyre is one guy that has a hard time losing fights and if you know a little about Big Mac its hard to dislike the guy.

MacIntyre might be the best fighter in hockey right now.

you're right he's nowhere near a heavyweight. he's way above that, all the heavyweights are scared to death of him. you should see guys like orr and carkner skate away like little girls when they see peters get on the ice.

You've gotta be kidding me.there's at least 10 guys in the league right now that could pulverize him.
