HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) Trust me people, this is sheerly hypothetical. I have seen enough of you guys thinking this should happen. So I want to get the pulse of the people...Do we really want this to be a reality? I mean I am probably the biggest Cleary slappy in here. A Wings team with Cleary is better than without, imo. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted June 8, 2010 Cleary's value to the team is higher than anybody's that we could potentially trade for, imo. He's coming off an injury-filled season and his stats (and value to other teams) will reflect that. He's also a player that had developed a bad reputation in organizations not named The Detroit Red Wings. Thus other teams aren't going to want to part ways with much. I say hold onto him and lets see what he can do this year when he's (hopefully) healthy for 82+ games. He seemed pretty optimistic in his last interview about next season. T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) Hell no. Dan Cleary is exactly what you want in a hockey player. Clears is one of the most versatile guys we have. He is a Jack of All Trades. He can effectively bang and grind on the fourth line, bang grind and score on the 3rd line, create space, bang, score and back check on the 2nd and 1st lines. More versatilve than anyone else we have. I've seen too many games where the Wings came out flat except for Dan Cleary. Adam Burish or Ben Eager are nothing near the player Cleary is. These hands of stone are 1 year removed from a 9 goal playoff and the injury was the knee. Fail but thanks for the input. I hear ya man. Ladd isn't as bad as we may think. But replacing Cleary is the argument here and as you stated, no thanks. I should say I will take Ladd with Cleary still. How about that?
