Guest Hatethedrake! Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Isles will buy him out if/when he clears. I'm hoping for Mitchell or Sutton but Witt would be a good option as well if the other 2 don't pan out.

HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Not even close to a cap guy but given what's going on, if we sign Modano is Witt a possibility???
Booster313 138 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Might be willing to take a 1yr entry level because of the other money he's getting.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Might be willing to take a 1yr entry level because of the other money he's getting. Can't imagine anybody would give him a multi-year deal given his 35+ status.

Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 I've always liked Witt. I bet he'd sign for under a mil. If he's bought out, he'll be living pretty good with NY paying the rest of his contract, so maybe he'd sign for like $675,000?
Hockey Convert 55 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Can't imagine anybody would give him a multi-year deal given his 35+ status. Why not? Haven't the Wings done just that for several of our current players? More to the point, I don't know much about Witt. Why are they buying him out? Does he have injury problems, or is it just to make cap/roster space?
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Why not? Haven't the Wings done just that for several of our current players? More to the point, I don't know much about Witt. Why are they buying him out? Does he have injury problems, or is it just to make cap/roster space? Let me rephrase that: Teams won't be willing to give him a multi-year deal given his injury history and 35+ status. Witt has had a lot of injuries over the years and his physical style has taken its toll on his body. He declined to the point that he spent a portion of last season in the AHL. NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 People, this is a guy who couldn't cut the Islanders line-up! As far as I know, they're not in cap trouble, so before everyone starts with the 'Kenny, get 'er done!', consider if this is really a guy we want...
robb himself 143 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 (edited) I'd take him for a veeeeery low cap hit...hes' solid when he's not injured...he would atleast give some more competion to our younger guys...and would be a great role model in Grand Rapids Edited July 30, 2010 by robb himself

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Do not want under any circumstance, he's about the slowest available option in any form and is constantly injured - he makes Lebda's defensive gaffes look minor due to his poor movement at this stage in his career... as was already mentioned, he couldn't crack the Isles lineup and is a shell of what he used to be, regardless of how tough he is... Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 31, 2010 Someone will pick him up off waivers or give him a camp tryout invite if he's still available.
cjm502 165 Report post Posted July 31, 2010 Someone will pick him up off waivers or give him a camp tryout invite if he's still available. If he ends up getting bought out a tryout wouldn't be bad at all. If he does well than sign him up.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 31, 2010 His better days are past him, but we're talking about a guy who could fill Lilja's spot as far as shot-blocking,clearing the crease and he will fight more than Lilja. Is he what he used to be?no. Would he possibly prove to be a good signing,as long as his contract is cheap?Absolutely.
