The Red Wings will be holding a Tuesday press conference to detail Chris Chelios' future role with the team.

My bet is it is kind of a foot in the door type deal where he is mostly helping with player development and really just prepping him for a defensive coach job.

I don't know if it ever being mentioned anywhere official. My statement was just what I hope happens. Chelli just seems like he would fit that role so well. He was in the league a long time and one of the best most of his career. He mentored guys on the Wings when he played and I know was considered to be a great mentor to younger guys on the USA team as well.
