stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted October 21, 2010 He better get back and put in some real solid games, because with how Kindl's been looking, E may end up being the odd man out when Raffi gets back with how Kindl has looked... 2 wingnut40 and Travis reacted to this

Tuffalupagus 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2010 I'd rather see Ericson and Kindle in a salei out. Othe than the PK Salei looks awkward and unsure. Kindle has looked great on the PP. Also does anyone else think that Kronwall has been shaky so far this year.

Also does anyone else think that Kronwall has been shaky so far this year. They're different style players, so it's an apples to oranges comparison - Salei has done exactly what has been asked of him and has been very solid on the PK, also, Ericsson is most effective when he can join the rush and has a solid defense first partner with him... same for Kindl... I think we can all agree, that our best roster is each d pairing having one offensive minded d-man and one defensive (except for the freak which is Nick Lidstrom, which can do it all, while saving a baby from a burning building, performing open heart surgery and curing cancer) and 2 of those offensive roles are already taken (Rafalski, Kronwall) Barring an injury, we do not want Ericsson AND Kindl in, unless we have to... Also, Kronwall has been pretty solid so far, so I'm not sure what you're seeing that's making you think otherwise...

Guest Heaten Report post Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) Unfortunate timing for Ericsson's back injury, I would much rather see a healthy Big Rig over Janik. This could have been the perfect chance for Ericsson and Kindl to prove to be solid and builds confidence of their coach, then maybe Salei could get pushed out. I have not been impressed with Salei. I also don't like the Lidstrom-Stuart pairing. Edited October 21, 2010 by Heaten
Miss Wing Queen 154 Report post Posted October 21, 2010 What I don't understand is why does Abdelkader have to fight for a position when he gets healthy and Ericsson doesn't have to? To me, there should be no distinction between forwards and defense in that regard, especially since Babs always preaches that those who work hard and show results will get more ice time. Ericsson won the spot as soon as Janik stepped out on the ice. Janik will be sent down as soon as Ericsson's healthy. Miller-Helm-Eaves line has been solid (and PK heroes). Janik.... not so much. Ericsson will not be "given" a spot either, the only reason he will get on the ice when he gets back, is that he is a roster player, Janik is not... while Rafalski and Ericsson is hurt, Janik is up on emergency basis... as soon as Ericsson is cleared, Janik has to go back down, and we only have 6... once everyone is healthy, I don't believe Ericsson will just be given his spot back, he'll have to take it away from Kindl, who doesn't look to be letting go of it right now... Abs will beat Miller out for that spot within a week of being cleared by doctors - mark my words.
Guest Heaten Report post Posted October 21, 2010 I feel like the argument is more Kindl / Ericsson than Ericsson / Janik. If Ericsson is ready to play next Thursday, Babcock isn't going to bench one of Ericsson / Kindl to play Janik.

Once Ericsson is back, they will HAVE TO SEND JANIK BACK DOWN DUE TO HIS EMERGENCY CALL UP STATUS - otherwise he'd be exposed to waivers... that's not being "given" a spot, that's just the way it is. I read, but not so sure you do. Forget waivers and emergency call ups or all other technicalities, Ericsson will be "GIVEN" a spot over Janik no matter what the cap issues or emergency call ups are. Ericsson is the better defenseman. Again, the PK is clicking and miller has been solid, Babs isn't going to throw Abs in the lineup unless someone falters or gets injured. I highly doubt Abs is going to beat miller out for a spot during practice. - I won't be bumping this thread or posting any "told you so" if you are wrong, because it doesn't really matter. Your point is moot - you can not be "given" a job, when there is no one to compete for it in the first place... You cannot "forget waivers or emergency call ups or all other technicalities"- they exist and it is FACT, so to argue a hypothetical against a reality is just that. moot. Abs is a better player, with more upside and more edge - something we need and he is JUST as defensively responsible as Miller... once again, barring injuries he WILL beat Miller out for a job, in practice and in games... and feel free to "bump" this if I am wrong, as I always have on this board, I will humbly eat crow if I'm wrong, but as I already said - mark my words - within a week of Abs being cleared by doctors AND barring more injuries, Abs will be in, in place of Miller. Guest Heaten Report post Posted October 21, 2010 That much is true. I was thinking in the long term, though, when Rafalski returns. Hard to predict long term cause a lot can happen. Kindl could falter, Ericsson could just turn into a machine, more injuries, or etc. I think once Ericsson returns, he has 1.5 to 2 weeks to prove himself.
