Getting to know Johan Franzen

Cool little piece. Surprising to me that his most painful memory is that of losing to Anaheim in '07 and not Pittsburgh in '09. I guess it makes sense, being that he hadn't won a cup yet, though.

Quite the nod to Hjalmarsson, too.

"blabla signed through 2020" that always scares me, johan franzen soon to be 31, lookin kinda rough, playing the hard game in kind of the wrong way... i think that contract will come and haunt wings in 4-5 years..

I worry about that, too. He'll probably end up having to change his style of play as he gets older and declines. We still have a few good years left, though.

Or we could hope that the salary cap is sky high and 3.9M come 2015 is what a 500k contract is today :hehe:

Just remember, after 4 or 5 years, there should still be a thing called LTIR relief and since he'll be older than 35 if he has an injury that forces him out of the league, his cap hit doesn't count against us. it's a win win for signing a 40 goal scorer at half the price of Kovy who can't play while under pressure.
