lol, im watching on cbcsports.ca the all access cam, they just asked someone who played in Blackhawks in the Winter Classic and gave 3 answers.

b) Detroit Red Wings

Out of all the Classics, the Chicago/Detroit game in Chicago had the best weather by far, it will be difficult to ever beat those conditions.

I think the '09 Classic was by far the best, and it seems most hockey fans consider it so as well.

I think the reason I quit watching this game was the announcing. They're not even being overwhelmingly pro-Crosby, they're just so terrible I had to stop. At one point Pierre got all excited to explain how Washington was using hand warmers and "I haven't checked with them yet, but I'm sure Pittsburgh is, too!"

Earth-shattering.

I put up with them during the playoffs and on weekend games, but I really can't stand NBC's announcers and as good as the game was I have better things to do than listen to them ramble on.

Damien Cox made a great statement on Twitter: Outdoor concept should used for All-Star Game. That, and that only. Tonight proves it.

While I like the idea of outdoor ASGs...it creates the same problem the Winter Classic does - excluding southern teams.

Nobody else thinks it's kind of cool how terrible the ice is? I mean, I've never seen a professional game played in rain before. It's an experience.

Sure, it's bad for the actual ongoing play, but it's kind of neat, nonetheless.

Rain during the game is like rain or snow during a football game. People love that stuff. It just adds a new, unpredictable element. I don't see why bad weather means there shouldn't be a Winter Classic.

I remember when I was a girl and we'd go skating in the spring to try to get in as much time on the ice as we could before summer. The falls were much worse and it felt so much colder when you were wet.

Of course, this was figure skating. If they saw girls out on the hockey rink, they'd chase us off even if the season was over because it cost money to keep that ice good.

lol...like that really makes a difference. It should be played as any NHL game. Shouldn't matter if it's outside...deal with the elements don't make exceptions.
