I like Eager, even if he gets a overexcited, and was briefly hopeful during the fire sale that the Wings might get their hands on him at a reasonable price.

The Thrashers have traded forward Ben Eager to the San Jose Sharks for their fifth round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Eager is fresh off of a four-game suspension for his actions in a game against Toronto on January 7 and had been used sparingly by Craig Ramsay in the month before his suspension. the rugged winger shad a strong preseason for the Thrashers but struggled to solidify a role for himself. He wasn’t contributing consistently at the offensive end and wasn’t strong enough defensively to earn PK time.

He's really racking up the frequent flier miles, that's a lot of moving around...

The guy wasn't tearing it up in Atlanta, but he wasn't doing horribly either and he's a pretty solid 4th liner, possible 3rd liner in the right situation... he must have been butting heads with coaching or management there...

San Jose is desperate to get their guys going. Maybe we can lure McLellan back to coach the defense if they keep tanking it in the Shark Tank.

This is about the 4th time I've seen this on this board... McClellan didn't handle the D, he handled the Offense and PP when he was here and MacClean handled the D and PK and MacClean took over the forwards when McClellan left...

I didn't say he did coach the defense. I said to bring him back to coach the defense, not bring him back to coach the defense again. Key difference. Could he really do any worse than McCrimmon? Mc and Mac could swap for all I care. The point is that McCrimmon is a joke and our defense has progressively gotten worse over the course of his tenure here. If things keep up in San Jose, you can bet your bottom dollar that McLellan will be looking for a new job.

The way it was worded, it came across that way...

I agree that McCrimmon should be replaced and never thought he should have gotten the job in the first place and I would gladly welcome McClellan back, but I wonder if Babs would take him back? He'd more than likely be looking for another head coaching gig anyway

You know what, you're right, my memory just simplified McClellan's move I guess. Either way bringing McClellan back will allow MacLean to go back on D, right? So the logic is still there even if the middle part of the process was cut out, haha.
