evilzyme 769 Report post Posted February 4, 2011 So I was sitting on my thinking chair doing my business when an interesting question popped into my head. Has anyone ever attempted to skate across the ice with the puck similar to the Michigan move? Before the breakout, if the defencemen had popped the puck to his stick and started skating along with it, is he free game to get nailed out of his body? What would be the coverage on this... ultimately we would have a lacross style field hockey. This question arises because of the super skills competition and how everyone and their mother went for atleast one type of the Michigan move.
Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted February 4, 2011 I'm assuming you're talking about Mike Legg's goal from '96?
evilzyme 769 Report post Posted February 4, 2011 Yes that's the origin of the "Michigan" move, somehow people still think Cindy Crybaby made it and actually have the heart to call it the "Cindy Crybaby."

seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted February 4, 2011 You're definitely free game to get nailed. If you've ever played lacrosse, it would be like running without cradling, except even easier to take it away. Plus, unless your tape job is pretty darn fresh, the puck slides off the blade really easily. It's really, really impractical.

SpiritFan 37 Report post Posted February 5, 2011 As long as the stick stays below the crossbar it's ok. Once the stick goes higher than the crossbar the play is whistled dead for playing the puck with a high stick.
