He was dominant. That backhand attempt after flying past everyone on the PP. That nifty move in the 1st period to draw a penalty. That show of strength near the blueline to keep the puck in. The goal. The sweeeeet assist to Modano. He was a force.
Now why don't you always play with that confidence Flip? See how good you can be?!?!

Aussie_wing might be right. This might be his best game yet.
Just cause you look like the gimp don't mean you play like the gimp!

He's quietly up to 16 now, pretty good considering his career high is 19 and he's missed some time.He was good tonight. Good to see him get another goal.

Filp has all the tools, you know he has to break out eventually. This has been quite the waiting game. He was amazing tonight though. Hopefully he can play like this more consistently. Maybe he will pull a Franzen and up his game about ten notches seemingly overnight.
This is not totally out of the question. Filppula has always stepped up his intensity level for the playoffs and generally played well. With more confidence and experience, this might be his year. The only time he sucked in the playoffs was last year against the Sharks. Remember how hot his line with Z was until that series.

Yet at the same time it's the same old weakness that his brother pointed out earlier this season. "More courage." At least, on a more consistent basis.

When hes hot hes a lock for the top two lines, but when he goes milk carton for a handful of games the third line is a good place for him.Like I say, when Filppula is "on", he plays like a bonafide star. Argue how often he is "on" if you want, but there is no denying his talent. Putting him on the third line should be punishable by death. (

But great to see the watch thread mojo working for Flipper especially with Hudler and Datsyuk down. I hope he keeps this up, the teams a lot more dangerous when he decides to play like this.

It's looking more and more as if this is the only general scenario in which he really looks to make his mark. At least offensively.

I actually said the exact same thing to my pops last night. He looked like Datsyuk-lite out there. Don't want to go too overboard and say "I told you so" but look on page 2 of the GDT. I CALLED IT!Yes, fantastic game by Filppula tonight. Are you sure they didn't stick Datsyuk in the #51 jersey? He was making some sick dangles tonight.
Felt a big game on the horizon from him. Just amazing to see just how strong he is in the corners and on the puck some time. If we can see this more on a consistent basis, maybe he can reach this potential everyone in here would love to see him get to. Keep it up Flips!!!

When Flip is on his game he is well worth the money and far from soft. His only problem is consistency as is most NHL players main problem. That's really what separates elite players from very good players. But I'll give you the fact he does get injuredHe wasn't that great on the PK in overtime last night.....just sayin'.......I think Helm would have been a better option with the open ice of 4 on 3. I think Flip is NOT worth his salary...too soft & always iinjured for long periods of time. I'm not saying he isn't valuable.....just not 3M valuable!

May i ask exactly what he did wrong on the pk in ot? Cause i dont really think it would have mattered who was out there
