Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 6, 2011 I am super happy that the song Detroit 67' by Sam Roberts is being played. I would KILL to hear that sung in unison by the Joe over a cup. That would be fantastic to hear everyone cheer. Oh Oh oh-uh-ooo-o-oh-oh Oh Oh oh-uh-ooo-o-oh-oh I know not enough people know this song, but it is really great. The music video will choke up any real Detroiter. In fact, check the lyrics. I went walking at street level Feeling strange and disheveled Past the abattoir and the glory holes Like a film noire, in the starring role To the side streets, kept my nose clean Tasted beautiful, tasted obscene Singing, Oh Oh oh-uh-ooo-o-oh-oh Oh Oh oh-uh-ooo-o-oh-oh This is Detroit, see the skyline A commotion on the assembly line Raise a glass to the Ambassador As she's moving you to the dance floor Does anyone here tonight remember those times? Can anyone here tonight just tell me what they felt like? So many years, so many lives These are the streets where they collide From Jimmy Hoffa to Cadillac Some look ahead, I'm going back Cause I'm just looking for some sounds To ease the vice that squeezes us every day This was Motown, this was New France Where the Chippewa did the firedance That was long ago This is here and now But the memory still remains somehow Singing, Oh Oh oh-uh-ooo-o-oh-oh Oh Oh oh-uh-ooo-o-oh-oh I can't tell you how this old story ends I can't touch you now, like they did back then Past the child's play with the jump rope Hear the gun play, it's a tightrope Does anyone here tonight remember those times? Can anyone here tonight just tell me what they felt like? Does anyone here tonight remember those times? Somebody call the riot police, there's trouble down on 12th Street
Trapt1307 81 Report post Posted April 6, 2011 Definitely but for some reason the '09 playoff song was better to me given the result of last year's. Still a good tune there. How did that team not win the cup? So stacked...
Miss Wing Queen 154 Report post Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) I was at the game last night, and sad to say, I was paying more attention to the songs than the game by the third period. I heard this one, and they say "whoa" at lot but it could sound like "oh." Although, nobody was chanting or singing along. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f3eAIo2YHs Also, does anyone know the song they play more regularly at the Joe, sometimes, like last night, during the T-Shirt toss? It's kind of techno, and I really didn't catch many lyrics. I think they mention t-shirts in the lyrics. Edited April 9, 2011 by Miss Wing Queen
